Rescue family we need you! Your help always helps us to find the right families for these babies in need.

Meet Bear 💙he’s a 7 month old Great Dane puppy in need of his true forever. Bear comes from a loving home and an unplanned litter. We all know that things happen when having male and female canines. But also keeping in mind it’s greatly beneficial to a giant breed to wait a while to spay for health and growth reasons.

He’s so handsome as you can see and pure puppy. Great with dogs, kids (remember giant breed) will get knocked down. Never met cats. He is very cautious but so sweet. He is very affectionate as well.

To schedule a meet with Bear please PM us. There will be an application/contract and home visit conducted. Your pup must also meet him if you have one. Positive Professional training is also mandatory.

A couple of weeks ago, with the help of some local rescuers who were able to hold her until we had space, we pulled old girl Reese’s with her two canine family members from a shelter at CODE RED status.

Reese’s came to us with bad teeth, nonexistent appetite, bad p**p, morbidly obese, and with an enormous mass on her belly. We had a vet appointment for her today to do an assessment on her quality of life and overall health prior to undergoing surgery for mass removal, but unfortunately she was found deceased very early this morning prior to her visit. We are grateful to the rescuers out in southwest Virginia who helped get her out of the shelter environment, and to the foster parents who kept her comfortable for her last few days here.

Senior dogs homeless in shelters is an unfortunate phenomenon that is not going away any time soon (though we wish it would!). If you have space in your heart and home for an older dog who may have days or a few months left, please consider signing up as a foster. We’d love to have a few more folks on hand who are willing to provide a comfy home for a senior pup in need. Email us today at [email protected] or sign up at www.sfcva.org/foster to help!
