It’s $5 Friday…and it’s raining kittens with broken legs! 😭

Frankie Sinatra was found in the middle of the street by a Good Samaritan and brought to SFC a couple of weeks ago. His foster quickly noticed that he was dragging his back legs and having trouble getting around.

X-rays revealed a dislocated hip and a break in the right leg, and our vet determined that the best course of action was a leg amputation so he can go back to active, playful kittenhood and live his best life as a tripod. His surgery is scheduled for next week!

Another big thanks to our friends at Handsome Hound Pet Grooming today for helping Saskia look her best!

Saskia attended the Starbucks adoption event this weekend and we noticed that she was looking just a little “ruff.” Sarah and the team at Handsome Hound were quick to agree to get her cleaned up and trimmed up in hopes of attracting a potential forever home!

Saskia has now been with us for 4 months, though she was just recently made available after spending most of her time here awaiting and recovering from a leg amputation. Saskia came to us with impaired back legs and needed time and strengthening of the leg in better shape before we could amputate the other. That has now been completed and we are happy to report that she is easily navigating the world as a tripod, though she really needs someone who can help her lose some weight to feel her best and lessen the impact on her remaining hind limb.

Saskia is available for FOSTER, Foster-to-adopt, or adoption. She has been in foster care previously with small kids, cats, and another dog, and would love to leave SFC HQ. If you can help, apply online today at www.sfcva.org or email us at [email protected]!
