Today is August 31st and in Eastern Europe that means that it's "Graduation Day" when the 16-18 year olds, graduate from the orphanages.
Every year on August 31st, an entire graduating class of orphans is sent out of the orphanages all across Eastern Europe. Most of these children are without adequate life skills, without much more than the bags on their backs, and well wishes to find a place at trade schools.
No family, no mentors, no chance for adoption... no hope.
Within a few years, over 80% of these graduated orphans will find themselves trapped in lives of poverty, crime, prostitution, addiction, incarceration, or dead (many at their own hands).
Please join me in praying for these beautiful children (and those called to help them), as well as the children in foster care here, and all the kids around the world that will wake up hungry and without parents today.
Heartbreaking to think about them, and how that could have been my kids. 💔

We are wrapping up our hatching season over the next couple of weeks. If you are looking for BCMs, Orpington, Easter Egger or Olive Egger CHICKS, please message us before the end of May or you'll have to wait until next year.

We have a number of folks waitlisted for BCMs pullets. We have decided to hold the girls we have left from our fall 2023 hatch. We have been hatching for the farm for the past month so there is a chance we'll have a couple of girls come the fall. We'll keep you posted! 😍

A friend shared this today and I felt compelled to pass it along.

4,320 Virginia farms gone in the last 5 years.

Let that sink in. No farmers, no food.

We had to say goodbye to our darling Maximus yesterday. 💔
Max, Maxie, Maximilian, and known to only a special few as Charles, he was an excellent breeder back in his day and a staple here the farm. We will miss his inquisitive and regal personality around here for a long time. RIP Maxie.

Summer is full swing! After a quick family getaway, we fell chaotically into August. The heat has been so brutal and it’s taking a toll on the garden. No worries though as we’re already planting for our fall harvest! 🥦🥬🥕🧄🥔
Thankfully, the birds have been doing great! We’re getting ready to separate our breeding pens so tell us what you’re looking for next spring. Orpingtons? Black Copper Marans? Cochins? Brahmas? EEs? OEs? NN? We’ll have them all! 🥰
