The Phoenix Center for Integrative Learning came out to CVHR as part of our Youth Outreach Program. The students had a hands-on learning experience that covered the basics of horse care, management, and the ethical treatment of animals.

We gave history on how many of our equines came to CVHR and how we provide a temporary home until a loving, approved home can be found.

They had lots of great questions about horse care and students quickly told us their favorite horses on the farm. Luckily, the rain held off for their event!

Our youngest horse, Sonny got some light massage and scratches from our volunteer, Cher. He was soaking in all the attention he was given. What a little love bug!

It was a beautiful day to get a first ride in!

Cairo was a super star for his first ride post-track. He stands like a champ to be tacked, lunges well, stands for mounting and carries himself well. He’s a quiet boy who aims to please!

He is coming available for adoption to a low-level home seeking a best friend.

Mireya had her first post-track ride today and she did great!

We give the horses plenty of letdown time from the track. Each horse is individual but we want to make sure they are physically and mentally ready to restart.

Mireya shows she can lunge and stands quietly when mounting. Our wonderful supporter, Nikki had her quietly walking under saddle and moving off her leg.

We are going to spend the next few weeks building her muscle back up so stay tuned, she will be for adoption soon!

We want to give a huge shout out to Topside Credit Union. Topside Cares had a fundraiser that brought in $1,690 for our horses!

We were presented the check this week on our beautiful farm. Community support means the world to us!

It was hay delivery day at the farm!

Due to the drought this summer, we had to start putting out hay early for the horses. We want to make sure we are prepared for a cold winter which means lots of hay for the horses!

We want to thank our wonderful, local hay suppliers including Taylor Galloway who brought us a large supply of beautiful hay today.

We can only do this thanks to our supporters and donors. If you could help us offset the cost of our hay, the horses would be so grateful! No donation is too small.

It was farrier day at the farm today! 🐴

Eleven out of our fifteen horses were trimmed by our wonderful farrier, Thomas. The other four are on a different trim cycle and will see him in a couple of weeks. It’s very important that our horses stay on schedule keeping their hooves healthy and strong.

Our fabulous volunteers got the bush hogging done, fixed the tractor, repaired part of the roof of baby barn and installed some French drains around baby barn. These were imperative to accomplish before winter set in and everyone stepped up to the plate.
We couldn’t do this work without our fabulous volunteers and our donors who have continued to support us. Thank you all, for all you continue to do for us. It truly takes a village.

Sweet Violet left our farm today after being adopted. We are so excited for her adopters and can’t wait to hear updates. Congratulations, Violet!

We had some big changes at the farm this week! We would like to welcome Julie Stuckey as our new program director.
We would also like to thank Stacy Franklin for her years of dedication and service to the rescue. We wish her success in all of her future endeavors.

Now available for adoption, Violet! Violet is a teenage welsh cross pony with an unknown right hind lameness. Because of this lameness, she is looking for a companion home with someone who can manage her metabolic issues.
