Want harmony between your dog and cat? Implement these valuable tips to facilitate a seamless transition. Allow them to gradually acclimate to each other's presence by separating them with a barrier, such as a baby gate or crate. Ensure your dog is leashed until their behavior around your cat is predictable. Reinforce positive associations by offering treats to your dog when they gaze at your cat, or redirecting their attention with a toy. Offer your cat treats when the dog approaches as well. Teach your dog to remain calm around your cat by praising and rewarding them for looking away. If your dog displays aggressive tendencies towards your cat, please feel free to contact us for assistance.
Happy Sunday ๐พ๐

With heat waves sweeping across the country, blue-green algae is appearing in new areas and posing an increased risk to pets.
Found in lakes, ponds or any source of standing water, itโs extremely toxic and consuming it can be fatal. The best way to prevent accidental poisoning is to keep a close eye on pets when theyโre around water.
If you think your pet has been exposed, take them to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital and contact the ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435
We are always there when your dog needs an extra hand to hold.
Through regular practice, your dog's behaviors can become deeply ingrained habits. To build positive habits and prevent negative ones, it is essential to provide focused training, environmental management, and diligent supervision.

What is feline leukemia virus (FeLV)?
Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a virus that infects cats. It was first discovered in cats with a form of leukemia (cancer of the white blood cells). FeLV can cause a variety of diseases in addition to leukemia. Like all viruses, FeLV is a tiny microorganism that can only replicate itself inside living cells. FeLV is specific to members of the cat family and does not pose a risk to other species of animals or people. The ability of your dog to maintain a down stay amid distractions is vital. This skill enhances their confidence, socialization, and self-control. To effectively teach this, start with training in familiar locations, then progress to more distracting environments. Introduce distance and duration separately, and use frequent food rewards initially, tapering them off as your dog becomes more reliable.
We often request more from dogs than we provide, including attention. We expect undivided attention during training but frequently cannot offer it in return. A brief comment or signal indicating that our attention and focus will be redirected for a moment can greatly aid in a dog's understanding and future training success.

During the summer we do everything we can to keep the dogs cool. We provide them with lots of shade and water. A great deal of the dogs love to play in the pools and some of them even dip in the water buckets. We make sure the pools are regularly refilled with fresh cold water. On some of those extremely hot days we get bags of ice to put in the pools as well as on the turf. This way the dogs can snack on the ice, walk around and lay down in it. We have large ceiling fans and we bring out extra fans to have in the other yards. We rotate the dogs inside to cool off in a kennel if necessary. We give them a frozen stuffed kong or a bone for them to snack on while they're inside cooling off. We make sure we take all the extra precautions to make sure all of our dogs are well cared for and don't overheat, especially our wonderful squishy faced furry friends!
When youโre at your appointment and the treats are no where to be found ๐ซจ Disclaimer: treats were indeed given ๐
Oh what fun! If you've ever wanted your dog to be able to run and play off leash, go on a great hiking adventure or just be more reliable with their obedience, give us a call. We can get you signed up for our off leash e-collar training program.
What a fun game to play with your dog and family. Round Robin recalls teach your dog to come and it's great physical and mental exercise. As your dog gets better, you can increase the distance your dog has to run to each person.
Our brain games activity was lots of fun. If your pup missed it, check out our new monthly calendar for all of our upcoming events. You can pick them up in our lobby.
Bodhi came to us for training due to extreme dog reactivity. By telling him what's not acceptable, lots of advocating for his space and plenty of work on counter conditioning. He has come so far. He's now able to run off leash in some structured environments as well as briefly interact with appropriate dogs. We're really proud of his progress.
Bodhi has done a lot of training with us. When he first came he was reactive and would aggressively go after other dogs. With lots of work letting him know what's not acceptable, advocating for him by giving him space and lots of counter conditioning. He's now able to run off leash and even briefly interact with some other dogs. Really proud of this guy's progress
For international cat day Kensei would like to show you what his day is like at the training center.
Here's a helpful tip to get your dog to chew their bones and toys. Have a toy box full of different toys and bones and with some of these items hide food inside of them for your dog to discover. You could smear a bit of peanut butter on a Nylabone, purchase a new item and surprise them by hiding it in the toy box, or fill a treat dispensing toy. If you make your toy box a surprise treasure chest, your dog will frequently check it out and hope to find something wonderful. When you see your dog playing with a toy or chewing on a bone, be sure to give them lots of attention.
