*Canine Influenza Outbreak*

With the recent increase in cases of Canine Influenza in Texas, please call today to get your dogs boostered. This is especially important if you are traveling with your pets, or boarding your dogs over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Canine Influenza is very similar to the flu that humans get. Fortunately, it is not contagious to humans and only affects our dogs. But it is a respiratory illness that can make your dogs very sick.

Please call the office today at 830-997-4308 to schedule your pets vaccination. We have a limited supply due to increased demand around the state.

It was all hands on deck this morning at Fredericksburg Veterinary Center for an Emergency C-section!

We always hope that intervention is not necessary for delivery, but unfortunately after delivering 5 puppies without issue one of the puppies became breech with its head turned backwards.

Dr. Turner and our wonderful team of technicians jumped into action and successfully delivered 11 more puppies by emergency caeserian section. There were puppies everywhere!! We are happy to report that all 16 puppies and mom are doing great following surgery. It wasn't 101 Dalmatians, but it was enough for us to have our hands full this morning!!

Today brought a whole new meaning to the expression "Lucky Duck"

A Fredericksburg resident was at Lady Bird Park this morning and noticed that a duck had fishing line coming from inside of its mouth. The citizen was able to catch the duck and bring it into the clinic for further evaluation. Dr. Eckert, Dr. East and our wonderful team of technicians all pitched in to help sedate the duck and safely remove the fishing line and multiple hooks from inside the ducks mouth and wings.

We are happy to report that our duck friend will be back at the lake tomorrow! This is a friendly reminder when you are fishing locally, please be sure to think about our animal friends who might mistaken the hooks for food.

The Snowpocalypse didn't stop the emergencies!

Both Dr. Eckert and Dr. Turner each performed C-sections over the winter storm! With school out, we also had a lot of assistants - they don't teach you this in the classroom! We're happy to report that both of the dogs and all puppies are doing well. Even though Dr. Eckert doesn't have power or running water at home, he is still at the clinic today working hard to restore water so we can continue serving our community.

We are OPEN - please call the clinic if you need anything!

Because of the current weather situation, we have no water and intermittent power. We will be closed today, but hopefully be back up and running soon! Stay safe and warm.

Like many in our community Fredericksburg, Veterinary Center has been hit hard by the snow storm.

We are currently without water and will be opened on a limited basis until we can get back to full operational capacity.

We appreciate everyone’s patience in getting our city back up and running after this storm. We come from a strong community and know that together we can get through anything!
