This sweet girl came in with another dear sweet friend. They came in as a bonded pair, #24-142 and #24-140. They are good with dogs, as they are the ones that come out to greet them when we bring dogs in to temperament test them. They are 5 and 3 years old and have the sweetest disposition. We would love to see them be adopted together. Please consider adopting these sweet girls. They are at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Va.
Is your dog lonely, wanting a playmate and a best friend? If so, perhaps Pixie is your perfect fit. Pixie, approx 2-3 years LOVES other dogs, all the humans and has also tested well with cats. PLEASE SHARE this adorable gal as she has had a few emails, but her meets keep falling through before she even has a chance to show them how incredible she is. If Pixie may be your perfect new family member, please email [email protected] and tell Pixie a bit about her potential new home.
This new friend (AL#24-1507, approximately 2 years old) came to us as a stray and has been quite the gentleman since arriving. He is calm and quiet in his kennel and enjoys getting the chance to get outside to explore. He seems to be ok with other dogs so far but we are still learning more about him. Please come meet him if he looks like the dog you need to have in your life. We will post more on him as we learn more of his personality. So far, he's a sweet and good natured dog.

Two year old Harley loves when Ron, our volunteer, comes to spend time with the dogs. She gets so excited to see him. Harley has been with us for nearly a year and hasn't had any interest at all. She's so incredibly sweet, beautiful and smart. She just needs to be the only pet in your home. Harley loves people so much that it's hard on our hearts seeing her in here day after after day with no interest. She is very housebroken and loves a good power walk. She would also love the opportunity to run and play in a secure fenced yard. Harley knows how to chill out and curl up in a ball for a nap when things quiet down in the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter. We have no doubt that she will do the same in a home, but will be much more comfortable and happier. Please consider adopting Harley today between 12 and 4 in Fredericksburg, Va.
We have a hefty adorable female guinea pig available at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter. She seems to love her meals, as you can see. Guinea pigs make great family pets and this sweetheart will appreciate the chance to be a part of your family. Adoption fee is $20. Please being a carrier to transport her home. 💗
Jeff Gordon is a playful 10 month old kitten who is practicing his yoga, circus acts and pretzel impersonation all at once. He desperately needs a home where he can have room to run and play. He seems like he would want to play with other cats but we haven't had him playing with them yet. Please come visit him today at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Va.
Heidi is a gorgeous 5 year old German Shepherd who was surrendered to us when her owner became ill and had to be hospitalized. Because of the trips back and forth to the hospital, they were not able to keep up with her routine that she thrives so well with. She is used to getting a near two mile walk every morning. Heidi has lived with other dogs and kids. She prefers women and has some fear of men so this is something to take into consideration. She did have a dad, but it took awhile for her to feel comfortable around him. He was very patient with her and she eventually learned she could trust him but it took time and gentle guidance. Heidi seems to enjoy the baby pool, as she has gone in it every morning we've had it out. She is a gentle and loving cuddle bug who would love to be adopted to a breed savvy and active owner. She's at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Va.
8 year old Neva has been so patient waiting for her turn to be adopted. She came in with her son Chico when their family lost their home and they were living out of a car. They hated having to give them up, but knew it was the best for them, as they would be safe and comfortable. Neva has gained the perfect amount of weight and looks amazing. She has the best smile out of all our residents. Neva is good with other dogs but does like to chase squirrels and outdoor cats. She is so good in her kennel, curling up for naps, and keeps it very clean. She loves her potty breaks and chances to run around in the yard. Please come to adopt sweet Neva today between 12 and 4 at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Va.
Five year old Rufus came to us a little shy and reserved but has really opened up and is quite a fun pup. He is completely housebroken, never having an accident and is perfect on the leash. He had the most endearing old man face with his grey eyebrows. Rufus is great with other dogs and would probably be good with kids as well. He is gentle and takes treats nicely. Rufus seems to have had some training prior to coming to us but is also receptive to learning new things. He is great in the car and just an all around great dog. Please come visit him between 12 and 4, Tuesdays through Saturdays at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg VA

Here's another video of Boomer being his awesome self. We don't know why he was surrendered as he came transferred from another shelter but he's pretty amazing. 💙 He is 2 years old and already microchipped. As you can see, he walks great on the leash, with just an occasional jump up for a hug. We are working on that and he's already picking up on what's expected of him. This guy is so smart and so very handsome. You can meet him between 12 and 4 at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter.

Boomer is a super smart, extra sweet 2 year old Husky who came to us already neutered and microchipped. He seems good with other dogs with a proper introduction. He is an endearing guy who adores everyone he meets. Come meet him at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter between 12 and 4 pm.
3 year old Robin has been with us for over two years at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter. He is a gentle guy but with one stipulation to his potential home. He tends to guard "his person" once in a home. He is totally fine if he's with a group of people outside of his residence. He is also good with other dogs. A life with Robin will mean that he will need to be put away in a room if company comes over. Robin is not a high energy dog and will appreciate love and attention and a comfy dog bed to relax on. He has a playful side to him, but he's mostly very calm. You can meet Robin Tuesdays through Saturdays between 12 and 4 in Fredericksburg, Va.
Tank and Cleo had a blast today getting lots of exercise and cooling off with the pool. Tank (age 2-3) is Cleo's dad (age 1) and both pups are good with other dogs. They have both loved with dogs, cats and kids and have a great personality. Tank is energetic but also knows how to relax and chill out. Cleo is a bit more puppyish, but is very endearing and fun. Please come meet both Tank and Cleo tomorrow at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter between 12 and 4 in Fredericksburg, Va.

Wuzzy is a sweet and affectionate 8 year old girl who eats like a champ. She came to us when her family moved and could not take her with them. She seems to be good with other cats and is for sure amazing with people. She will make a wonderful companion and lap kitty. You can come meet her to adopt between 12 and 4 at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Arnold is a 3 year old big handsome beefcake who originally came to us when his family didn't feel comfortable with him around their infant. He was showing a lot of affection, and at his size, they were afraid it could be too much with excitement. He does, in fact, have a lot of exuberance and could unintentionally hurt a small child. He will need some training to learn self control and manners. He's currently like a huge puppy but full of love. Another home reported some food possession but we haven't seen it here. However, for caution sake, we advise feeding separately and working on potential mealtime issues. With the guidance, training and socialization, Arnold will thrive and be amazing. He's available at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Va.
We can't wait for the day that Butters feels like a happy, confident dog. He's a smart year old Great Pyrenees lab mix. Sadly, it appears that he hasn't been able to utilize his intelligence much in his previous home and lacks socialization. He will benefit from an owner who will take the time to bring out the best in Butters. He is a gentle dog in the right environment and has the potential to be a great companion. Please come meet him at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Va.
Kanelo was enjoying a nice leisurely walk today, getting some fresh air and exercise. He seems to like walking with his handler more so than being loose in the yard. It may be that he feels more comfortable having company with his lack of confidence. He has been making great improvements since first arriving to us. He didn't seem to have many opportunities for socialization. He has tested well with other dogs. He just doesn't have the desire to play quite yet. Kanelo will do best in a home where someone continues building his confidence with pack walks and training. He will also need someone who gives him the time with patience for him to trust and decompress. Please come meet him this week at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter and keep in mind that it may take a few visits for him to feel comfortable. He does love treats and sits great for them, so that will help in winning his heart. ❤️
Go Pixie Go! Pixie, approx 2-3 years, is the happiest of girls and she loves everyone and everything. We were sure with her good looks and sweet personality she'd have a ton of interest, yet she remains under the radar. Pixie MUST have at least one other dog in her forever home, kids and cats would be fine as well. Pixie is house and crate trained, is an expert level snuggler and will make one lucky family happier than they could have imagined. Email [email protected] if interested in adding Pixie to your family and make sure to give her a preview of what being part of your home might be like.
