Scooby, 1 year, was adopted from us earlier this year but sadly is clashing with the male dog in the home. Scooby is house trained, crate trained, does well with the female dog and adores humans. Scooby would love a family that will take him on fun adventures, where he knows he's not just a pet, but truly a beloved family member. We do not know his breed as he arrived stray, but these days, it's safe to presume he is some kind of "doodle." Email [email protected] if interested in adding Scooby to your household, please make sure to provide some information for him about what life with your family would be like.
Neva, 7 years, is out enjoying this gorgeous weather wondering if she will ever find her forever home. After waiting well OVER A YEAR, her son was adopted many months back, but she still goes without interest, we understand her questioning. Neva is wonderful with other dogs, loves to play, would enjoy a fenced in yard to run and play in. Neva is great with humans too! The only thing Neva needs is a cat free household. Neva is such a great girl, and even having her in foster care, promoting from a home environment has not garnered her any interest. PLEASE SHARE and let's help Neva get herself a HOLIDAY MIRACLE, ADOPTION INTEREST! She's too great of a gal to go unnoticed for so long. Email [email protected] if adding Neva to your family sounds like it could be the missing piece you've been searching for.
Inky and Blot are the most adorable brothers who are basically fused at the hip. These boys do well with other cats and have lived with them before they came to us. Sometimes they like to hide, however in the mornings when it is time for our staff members to come in and give them food, they are out rubbing against their legs and being social happy cats. The shelter environment can be very difficult for some animals to adjust to more than others, but despite the fact that they hide, these boys readily accept love. Many cats that have been housed with them have been adopted during the time that Inky and Blot have been with us, however, it is hard for many people to see past their burrowing ways. Please consider coming to meet/adopt this adorable duo today between noon and four. Please bring a carrier to take them home in and know that you will have two amazing love bugs once they are back in a household and out of the shelter. 💞

This is adorable wiggle butt is two years of age, and desperately wants a family to call his own. He would absolutely love to have another dog in his household. He has cat tested well, and gets excited when he meets people, so we believe children would be fine, however, he may knock small ones over in excitement. Please consider coming in to meet him between 12 and 4pm. Also, be sure to bring any other dogs in the household to be sure they are compatible.

And a goodnight to all! Autumn Night, 1 year this month, says after a day of romping with her foster siblings she is all tuckered out. Autumn Night is a petite gal, great with other dogs and would definitely be happiest with another in her adoptive home. She has also tested well with cats and would do well with children that are 6 and up. Autumn Night is a true beauty and her personality is even more beautiful than her good looks. PLEASE SHARE and EMAIL [email protected] to tell Autumn Night a bit about why she might be a great addition to your family.
This beautiful girl, AL#24-2098, was featured before the Thanksgiving holiday and had so much interest, yet sadly no one came to foster her or adopt her. So here we go again, hoping that she will find her forever family before year’s end. She is fairly petite, around three years of age, and needs a home with another dog. Cats and kids are not a problem, she just needs somewhere where she can feel safe and loved. Please share, and let’s help this beautiful hound mix find her forever home. She hopes she will consider bringing any other dogs in the household for a meet and greet, tomorrow between noon and four.
Draco, age two, was adorably sporting his Thanksgiving bandana and having an evening stroll before his generously donated feast. Draco has been with us for so long that he is starting to get frustrated in the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter. Draco is incredibly agile and athletic. An active owner will be perfect for him, as he loves to explore. Draco can jump high and enjoys getting on different levels and then hop back down. He's a spry little guy. Draco is good with other dogs. As you can see here he is trying to get in the play yard to play with Sapphire. His best buddy Three was adopted. So many of his friends have come in after him, and end up adopted before him. Because of Draco's extra exuberance at times, we recommend no kids or cats in his home. He does, however, know when it's time to settle down and be cuddly. If you would like to meet Draco, he is available Tuesdays through Saturdays between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Niall, four years, was surrendered when his former human decided he would be happier somewhere else as she worked all the time. Niall has lived with kids, cats, and dogs. He’s super outgoing, and will very quickly jump up on your shoulder and stay there for as long as he pleases, even making biscuits on your back. Niall can become overstimulated so we do recommend older children, and he is quite the talker. If looking for a cat with all the personality, and you are willing to give him an indoor only and true forever home, please consider bringing a carrier and coming to meet/adopt him tomorrow between noon and four.

Sapphire is an undiscovered gem who is one of those dogs that once she gets some consistent training and love, will always shine. Currently, she is getting depressed and frustrated in the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter, as she has been in and out for over a year. She was reclaimed by her owner, only to be left abandoned on the river bank with nothing but a backpack on a hot summer day. She went to two different foster homes, where we were able to learn that she is not yet suitable for young kids, as she is too exuberant for them. We also learned that she will chase cats and squirrels. We did learn that she is an excellent walking / jogging partner and loves the opportunity for an adventure. Although she is a tall and bigger girl, she is only a puppy barely even two years old. We also learned that sapphire likes to play with other dogs and is learning how to play. Although Sapphire does have some good energy, she also knows how to settle and be calm. She enjoys a good nap on a couch or on a dog bed. She rides perfectly in a car and once you get the initial wiggles out, walks great on a leash. Sapphire is very treat motivated and will be an excellent student to somebody wanting an intelligent, highly trainable dog. She is available during adoption visiting hours between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Meelo, 3 years old, is hoping today will be his day he is discovered for the fun dog he is.
Recently, he went on a day trip to Alum Springs Park and had a great time. At first in the car, he was pretty nosy, but once given a toy, he calmed down immediately. Upon arriving, he was very excited to sniff and explore. His tail was in a laid-back wag the whole time. On hot days in the play yard this summer, he loved playing in the pool, and on his walk in the park, he enjoyed wading in the creek. He was also a great hiking buddy and stayed on the trail listening to directions. He walked well and did not pull. On the trails, there were a few other people walking, and Meelo initially showed uncertainty around them. He was barking but not aggressive, but his attention was easily redirected. He is definitely very attentive to his environment and can be protective of his handler in unfamiliar situations, to a healthy degree. Meelo will be a wonderful companion to someone who will continue working with his confidence and is looking for a hiking buddy. Please come meet Meelo today at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter between 12 and 4pm.
Gonzo is just the sweetest boy! He’s been so desperate for love and affection at the shelter, and now that he’s in a short term foster home, he’s soaking it all up. Gonzo does very well with other dogs, and would love to live with them in his adoptive household. He says cats are no problem either and that he is great on a leash. He does not have to have a fenced in yard. Gonzo hopes you will consider opening your home and inviting him to join your family. Email [email protected] if you have room in your home and heart for this sweet Senior.🤎🤍🖤
Blue, 3 years, says it’s completely awesome being out of the shelter and getting to run and play and come home to cuddle. Blue lived with at least two other dogs in her previous home and would absolutely love to do so again. Blue’s Foster home is working on manners, such as not jumping on people and not pulling on lead. An adoptive household must have patience for puppy behavior and be willing to put in the time and training. Blue has an awesome temperament, just like most of us, needs to continue learning. PLEASE SHARE or if you have another dog, or keep her socialized with others, and are willing to do the work, and think she might be your perfect fit, please email [email protected] to tell her a bit about her potential forever home.
