We recently received an update from one of our wonderful adopters who made Juniper the bunny a part of their family last December. Not only did they share some fantastic news about how well Juniper is doing, but they also made a kind donation to our shelter. It is heartwarming knowing that Juniper is settled, loved, and happy. These wonderful updates are a testament to the kindness and compassion of our community, both those who adopt and those who support us. Many do both and we are grateful for all of you. ❤️‍🩹

We received a wonderful update on our adopted friend, Stormy, the cockatiel, and it sounds like he's settling into his new home beautifully! He is feeling very comfortable and happy with his new family, loving his new toys and cage. His family started working on hand training with him, and they are already impressed by how smart he is. Turns out that millet is a huge hit with him and proving to be an excellent training tool for this clever boy. It warms our hearts to hear that Stormy is thriving so well and bringing so much joy to his new family. 🩷

Pikachu, center, says it is so hot out that her ear is wilting! Pikachu has been in a foster home for 2 weeks now, just before the Parvo watch took place and she has been approved to promote and adopt out. Pikachu would be happiest with another dog to run and play with, has tested well with cats and is house and crate trained. An adoptive home would need to understand schedules, and keeping up the awesome work the foster home has done. If interested in adding this 4 year young petite cutie to your family, please email her at [email protected] and make sure to tell her all about what life with your family could be like.

***ADOPTED***
Charlie was surrendered directly to foster care so is not part of our adoption hold. Charlie, 6 years, is an adorable Yorkie who is great with other dogs, neutered and ready to find a true forever home. Charlie is underweight, picky with his food and will need a dental, as would be expected at his age. If you know you can commit to all Charlie needs, expense and commitment wise, he would love to hear all about his potential forever home when you email him at [email protected]

We received another wonderful update on Ben-G, and he continues to thrive in his home. No matter how much time he spends outside getting muddy, Ben-G always looks so fresh and fancy. He absolutely loves the freedom of his yard, spending lots of time outdoors and truly embracing life. Ben-G is also incredibly smart. When the weather gets hot, like it was today, Ben-G knows it's best to be relaxing in the AC with his mom. It's clear he's found the perfect balance of outdoor adventure and indoor comfort. Plus inside, he gets to cuddle up close with mom. We are so happy to hear how loved Ben-G is. He truly is one special boy! ❤️‍🩹

Some of you may remember our stunning boy Luca who found his forever family last winter. We received the most heartwarming update, and it sounds like he found his perfect home, fitting right into their lives and hearts.
His family shared that he has been the best boy and couldn’t imagine a better dog for their family. ☺️ Luca is absolutely wonderful with the kids, showering them with affection and being part of their daily adventures. He is still figuring out his "personal space bubble," as his family shares that he will sometimes accidentally step on the baby. But he always makes up for it instantly with the sweetest, most apologetic kisses. He's such a loving sensitive boy. It's clear that Luca is deeply loved and thriving in his new home, bringing so much joy to his family. Updates like this are exactly what we dream of for every one of our friends at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter, showing how a loving home can transform a shelter dog's life. We are so incredibly happy for Luca and his wonderful family. ❤️‍🩹

Bubba is a gentle 8 year old boy patiently waiting for his forever home. With his handsome buff and white coat and sturdy 10 pound build, Bubba is ready to melt your heart. He is a loving boy who needs a quiet home. The shelter environment has been a bit overwhelming for Bubba, but he is finding companionship with other felines in the Real Life cat room. He will do best with cats who match his calm demeanor in a peaceful home where he can decompress and feel safe from overstimulation. Once Bubba feels secure and comfortable, this mellow boy blossoms into a quiet, cuddly companion who loves affection. If you are ready to offer Bubba the peaceful home he deserves, please come meet him today between 12 and 4 pm at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Please be sure to bring a cat carrier to transport him home. His adoption fee is $55.

We want to extend another heartfelt "thank you" to our incredible community for your continued generosity during our parvovirus quarantine and cleaning. Your donations have been very helpful, providing us with essential supplies and support as we work to keep our friends safe and healthy.
We are relieved to share that, thanks to your help, we haven't seen any new cases of parvovirus symptoms. This is a testament to the power of a caring community, and we couldn't be more thankful for your understanding and support during this challenging time.
We will keep you updated on our progress. In the meantime, our gorgeous cats are healthy and ready for adoption. They would love to meet you today during adoption hours, between 12 and 4 pm.

Caterina says her foster brother found his forever home today. When will it be her turn? She has had some online adoption interest, even a few emails, but no one has scheduled a meet. Please speak with your entire household prior to reaching out, then, if everyone is on board to add a family member and make a nearly two decade commitment, email Caterina at [email protected] to tell her all about her potential forever home. Caterina is looking to remain indoor only and needs a home with another younger cat or kitten.
