Congrats at the very impressive group 1 at the AKC Nationals. This concludes the year of showing. I couldn’t be more proud of the team behind Mercedes, the top herding dog in the country. 🥰 I know emotions were high yesterday in Orlando Florida.

Congrats to Team Mercedes, Kent Boyles, Cynthian Wilhelmy and Sheree Moses on their Group 1 at the 2024 AKC National Championship under Mr. Thomas Coen!

“I have to give a HUGE shout out to Vera Symonds and Trademark Kennels!!

Most of you know that Bear is not a social butterfly and his circle of trust is very small. Many of you know that I have, and still do, work hard with him so that I am able to take him for his vet visits, and overnight stays with his Auntie Vera , with very little issues. Bear is a resource guarder mixed with off the charts anxiety which makes him a red zone dog all the time.
All my neighbors are very familiar with Bear the grouch as he yells at anyone walking by like a grouchy old man yelling at kids to get off his lawn. Amazon, DoorDash, and other delivery drivers know that Bear will try to come through the tiny windows on either side of the door when they are dropping off our orders.
Bear is aggressive and we go to great lengths to ensure we do not put him, or most importantly others, in a dangerous situation. We want everyone to be safe.

I say all of that to give some context to why I’m giving the shout out:

Yesterday someone opened one of our back gates. We know it wasn’t the wind because the lock is one the you have to lift the handle and slide it to open. You also have to be lifting up on the gate at the same time. Well David took Bear out back yesterday around lunch time. While Bear was walking around the yard he went around to the side of the house. When it had been about a minute and Bear hadn’t come back around, David went to see what he was into. That is when David saw the wide open gate and no Bear. Bear was now out front. Panic doesn’t even scratch the surface of what David said he felt. We have people walking their dogs, kids on bikes, etc. all throughout the day. Fortunately no one was out when this happened and thanks to the work we have done with Vera, we have developed a strong recall with Bear. David yelled for him and he came right back into the yard where he could not get out to anyone.

Needless to say Bear got a LOT of praise and treats for coming right away when called.

If you are looking for a great dog trainer Trademark Kennels is where you need to go. Vera doesn’t just train your dog, she will work with you and your dog as a team. I am sad that we didn’t find Vera while Bear was still a puppy, but I can tell you without her help we would have an unmanageable dog in all situations.”

Making obstacles for doggies is always fun. This helps to build your pups senses as well as boost some confidence. They learn to trust in you and learn quickly how to navigate tricky situations. Try hiding treats around and in obstacles to encourage sniffing, their favorite!! When they find a treat the tails just wag and they enjoy the self reward.

Twinkie is ready to have her very own person. She is an active pup, born Valentine’s Day ❤️, with a big heart to share. She is soo very loyal and loves to work for cookies. She LOVES other dogs and prefers to have a dog companion.

We have this lovely guy Rex here for some training and re-homing! He is a big goober and easy to love. Such a personality. He is 15 months and a growing boy. Excellent pedigree, Comet x Taylor, and he could easily be a very fun performance dog with his biddable personality.

Fall weather is such a lovely time to welcome a new puppy! The cooler temperatures are perfect for walks and the changing leaves make for a beautiful backdrop. A few things to keep in mind when introducing a puppy to fall weather:

Cooler Temperatures 🥶: Puppies can be more sensitive to cold, so make sure they have a warm place to sleep and perhaps provide them some extra snuggles!

Shorter Days 🌆: As the days get shorter, evening walks might get darker sooner. Reflective gear or a light-up collar can help keep your puppy visible.

Fall Hazards 🍁⚠️: Watch out for acorns, fallen leaves, and mushrooms, which can be hazardous if ingested.

Fun Activities 🎃⚽️: Fall is a great time for playing in piles of leaves, exploring nature trails, and visiting pumpkin patches or outdoor events. What better for socialization with a young pup?

Let’s introduce these puppies to the new season by welcoming them to your home. A great time to raise a puppy before the brisk winter makes a snowy appearance ❄️
