We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at our Fred SPCA annual Animal Rescue Festival! Your support made this event a huge success, and it was wonderful to see so many passionate animal lovers come together!

From our dedicated volunteers to the amazing vendors, sponsors, and of course, every attendee, you played a vital role in raising awareness and funds for our mission. We hope you enjoyed the activities, met some wonderful animals, and felt the love that fills our community.

Spaghetti has some important announcements 🗣❗
1.) The shelter is closed tomorrow, Nov 2 for Animal Rescue Festival happening at Hurkamp Park from 10 am - 3 pm. Join us for local vendors, music, food trucks, kids activities, adoptable animals, and more! (Family & dog friendly)
2.) You can help save vulnerable animals like Spaghetti by joining us earlier at Animal Rescue Festival and participating in the classic kick-off Walk for the Animals! It's a one-mile stroll around downtown FXBG (pets welcome!) and funds raised with the $35 registration fee go back into our life-saving mission. You get a free koozie/beverage fill, and an ARF tshirt! Resister at fredspca.salsalabs.org/arf2024 OR the morning of at our welcome tent.

It is with great sadness that we share our sweet Sequoia will be featured on our ofrenda this year for Día de los Mu***os, as she has succumbed to her terminal lymphoma. Sequoia was a force—joyful, energetic, determined, and (food) motivated. Despite her high energy, she was a fabulous family dog and simply adored the children in her foster home. Thank you to her foster family for providing a wonderful, loving home for Sequoia during her last year of life. She knew she belonged, that she was loved and safe. We also thank her previous foster, who cared for her and her puppies when they first arrived at the Fred SPCA. We are so grateful to everyone involved in making her journey with us one filled with love and happiness. Our staff, fosters, medical team, and everyone who shared her in hopes of finding her a home—thank you. ❤️ Rest easy, sweet girl.

To the person(s) who dropped off the box of well-loved toys and the sweet note... It did not take long for staff to pick the recipient of your gift 💕 We kept the whole gang together because sweet, sensitive Yahtzee has had a rough few weeks, and we know he loves his stuffies. He picked up each one and tested them all out, before deciding the mallard duck was his favorite and taking a nap with the squad. Thank you for thinking of us and our dogs!

How do you let go of the guilt of not being able to foster or adopt when every shelter is posting "at capacity" pleas? Even if you cannot bring a dog home, you can still make a significant impact on a shelter dog’s life, especially today on National Make a Dog's Day! Our program encourages our community to break a shelter dog out of the kennels for the day to give them a mini vacation, stretch their legs, sniff some grass, and have fun! 💕🐾 Remember, every small effort counts. You're doing your best, and so are the shelters and rescues.

Dia de los Mu***os is a spiritual holiday dating back to the Aztecs, Toltec, and Nahua people. From October 31 to November 2, families celebrate by cleaning cemeteries and creating ofrendas, or altars, filled with photos, favorite foods, drinks, and other items of loved ones who have passed away.
As a proud Mexican-American, Allie Names grew up creating a Dia de los Mu***os ofrenda with her family. She began this fundraiser as a Fred SPCA employee and has graciously continued it as a supporter. Allie will be will be designing a Day of the Dead altar to celebrate the lives of the animals who have passed and left paw prints on our hearts. In creating the altar to celebrate those who shared in our journey, we hope you will join us in raising money for homeless animals who are still on theirs.

🌟 Meet Esme! 🌟 This 2.5 year old happy pup absolutely adores going on walks and meeting new friends—there’s nothing quite like the excitement of making connections! Esme is super dog-friendly and loves playing with kids; their energy always brings a giggle. When she’s not out exploring, you can find her lounging in the sun, soaking up those warm rays. Oh, and did we mention she’s extremely treat-motivated? Just a little snack, and she’s ready to show off her best tricks or snuggle up for some quality time. 🐾 Did you know about cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), also known as "wobbly cat syndrome"? This neurological disorder affects cats by causing uncoordinated movements, loss of balance, and jerky motions. Louboutin, Prada, Vogue, and Fendi want you to know their wobble wobble only adds to their fierceness on the catwalk!

CH occurs when a cat's cerebellum, responsible for coordination and balance, doesn’t fully develop, often due to the mother contracting the feline panleukopenia virus during pregnancy. Trauma in the womb, like malnutrition, can also contribute.

Let's raise awareness for Cerebellar Hypoplasia and celebrate their differences 😸 🥰

🎵 George, George, George of the Jungle - watch out for that tree! 🎵
George is almost 3 years old and still full of playful energy! He can get the paw-ty started and keep it going with both his human and dog pals! He is ready to explore the world with you and cuddle up for snuggles at the end of the day. Not only is he fun, he's incredibly smart and motivated. When he's not busy learning new tricks, you can find him on the lookout for a snuggle buddy. This handsome boy doesn't realize his size, and can be a bit goofy, so we recommend a home with children 12+ as he can bump into the littles unknowingly. Yahtzee, (male, approx. 40lbs) escaped his ‘trial adoption’ home around 4:30 pm 10/5. He was last seen by the Mercedes Benz parking lot at 1000 Noble Way
Fredericksburg, VA, headed in the direction of the 95 interstate.
If he approaches you please secure him, but DO NOT CHASE as this may lead him into traffic.
