Spring break Compassionate Care Camp is a chance for kids to dive into the rescue process, learn about animal behavior through hands-on science activities, and express their creativity through art projects! Campers practice kindness and responsibility by helping with shelter tasks, and gain a deeper understanding of fostering and adoption. With a mix of games, art, and time spent with animals, the camp encourages empathy and teamwork while preparing for a Talent Show to showcase all their hard work and love for animals. We are blown away by the incredible support from our community! A huge thank you to B101.5 for running a month-long campaign to help us raise funds for our mission! The donations raised during February's Winter-Wag-A-Thon comes at a critical time for the Fredericksburg SPCA.

As with all non-profits, we see a dip in donations after the holidays, but we’re gearing up for our busiest season yet—KITTEN SEASON! 🐱 The SPCA is expecting over 600 kittens this year, and with your continued support, we know we can save countless lives.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who became a recurring donor during B101.5’s Winter Wag-A-Thon! Your generosity means the world to us and to the animals in our care. 🐾💖 Stay tuned for more ways to get involved!

8 month old Remiel is a playful, affectionate boy that has been having a blast playing with his toys and another dog pal in his foster home! His ears are super adorable, as they constantly move independently like radar.

His foster reports that he is house trained and crate trained, and will quietly play in his crate while waiting for the humans to get out of bed in the morning. He would be the perfect addition to a family who's resident dog needs another canine companion!

Favorite things? Treats (duh! 🦴), squeaky toys, zoomies in the yard, and long walks around town. He's also a fetch pro, and while he's small enough to scoop up for a snuggle, he's got the heart of a big cuddly bear. 🐾💖

Remiel doesn't do well in the scary shelter environment, so if you'd like to meet this canine cutie, please email [email protected] to arrange a meet and greet time!

Happy ! Our small but mighty medical team performs thousands of spay/neuters every year. With more than 900,000 cats and dogs being euthanized annually in the United States, every day is spay day with our clinic crew because we know it's cuter to neuter! Did you know female cats can start having kittens as early as 5-6 months old, with an average of 2-3 litters per year?! Our Fred SPCA Locke Community Medical Center is available for affordable spay/neuter surgeries - so don't delay! Head over to fredspca.org/clinic to book an appointment!

Here are four reasons to get your pets spayed and neutered:

Meet the very HAM-somest boy at the Fred SPCA! 🥹🍖

Ham is a young, athletic, and lovable boy in search of his very own Ham-ily! He adores long walks with plenty of breaks to sniff and enjoy the day. As a nature enthusiast and a big fan of chew toys (especially with peanut butter!), he’s always ready for some fun.

If you have another pup in need of a friend, Ham is READY! He's looking for the pickles, mayo, mustard - whatever - to complete his sandwich! Ham adores playgroups with other pups here at the shelter and has enough energy to keep up with even the most seasoned zoomie-bound hounds!

Ham also believes in the power of a great photo op, so if you love capturing adorable moments with your canine companion, he’s your guy! What can we say? He’s a total HAM! Come and meet Ham and the other adoptables 12 - 6pm Tues - Sun!

You won’t want to miss this story! 🛋️

Meet Lord Philip Stanhope, the 4th Earl of Chesterfield—aka Chester. Wondering how he got such a regal name? Well, it turns out the Chesterfield sofa was named after Lord Philly himself, and that's exactly where our friend Chester was found!

A member of our community bought what he thought was a perfectly normal sofa from a second hand store—until it came with an unexpected bonus in the form of a little couch gremlin! 😹

But lucky for Chester, he had a microchip! Our team was able to reach out to his family, who had recently donated the couch and had just lost their cat! Thanks to the microchip, they were happily reunited. 🏠💖

We can’t stress enough how important it is to have your pet microchipped and make sure it’s registered with up-to-date info. Also, a quick reminder—if your pet has a Save This Life microchip, please know that the company has shut down. You’ll need to update your registration with a new provider. 🐾

The Fred SPCA has never used that company, but we know some local vets have. To check your chip, head to https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/ for links to other pet registry sites.

Because you never know when your pet might take a grand adventure to the thrift store and beyond! 😜
