Sometimes I wish....

Sometimes I wish I could go back and hunt in the “Good ol days.” The days you hear about from older men that don’t even duck hunt anymore. The days when you pulled your Jon boat off the boat rack on your old square body Chevy, bronco, or Toyota and strapped an old Johnson to the back of it and idled to your hole. When you hit a stump or a cypress knee good enough you “sheared a pin.”

The times before boat races and the “season of hate.” A time when an old humpback Browning A5 or a Re*****on 1100 was the gun of choice. When posting a picture on social media was going to the local store and tacking a picture on the wall for all the customers and other hunters to see. A day when everyone got along and there wasn’t anything to prove to anyone.

No I never was able to see those days, but I would enjoy being able to travel back in time to experience it. There wasn’t as much advancement in equipment and technology, but they still killed just as many as people nowadays and probably had more fun.

I can’t hate the way duck hunting is now because of the fact I never have known it any other way. I’ve been guilty of being a modern duck hunter. I just would like to see what it was before everyone became and expert at all types of hunting.

There will probably be people who get upset when I post this, but that’s fine.
