We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Kindra Washington will be joining the team at Hartwood Animal Hospital starting June 15th!

Dr. Washington’s passion for veterinary medicine began in high school with a desire to give a voice to animals in need. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Poultry Science from Virginia Tech, where she gained hands-on experience working with livestock and on a local dairy farm, before going on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine.

During veterinary school, Dr. Washington focused heavily on Equine Medicine, spending summers assisting with surgeries and ambulatory care in the Large Animal Department. Since graduation, she has transitioned into small animal medicine, where she developed a special interest in internal medicine and veterinary dentistry. She is also excited to continue expanding her knowledge in exotic animal medicine.

Beyond caring for pets, Dr. Washington is passionate about mentorship and community involvement. She has worked closely with students through externship programs at both Virginia Tech and Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine and enjoys giving back through volunteer opportunities whenever possible.

Outside the hospital, she enjoys reading, horticulture, gaming, crafting, traveling, and training with her two dogs.

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Washington to our team and look forward to the compassionate, thoughtful care she will provide to our patients and their families.

Most owners have their dog tested for tick borne diseases yearly yet they have never been tested themselves. If your dog is exposed to ticks-so are you.

Unlike people, dogs are routinely screened for Lyme disease and other common co-infections by their vets.
