We had some exciting training going on at FVC last Friday. Our staff completed an Anesthesia Training Workshop! Topics covered included:

-Identify and manage anesthetic complications in your patients.
-Recognize and respond to changes in blood pressure, CO2 and cardiac arrhythmias, leading contributors to anesthetic emergencies.
-Increase confidence in operating and maintaining your anesthesia and monitoring equipment.
-Practice communicating effectively in surgical situations and managing stress for better outcomes.
-Level-set your clinical team on best practices in anesthetic case management

This was a fantastic learning experience that all members of our medical team were able to join. It not only served as a refresher, but also gave us some new information to help further our medical knowledge and provide even better care for our patients.

This is all thanks to diet change/restrictions that were suggested at her last visit. Congrats to both Zoey and her owner, for their hard work. Our mystery case of the week was solved by Dr. Stephanie! We got a call that a horse had a swollen face, which may normally indicate dental issues. Thanks to some x-rays, Dr. Stephanie was able to see the horse has a small wire embedded on the inside of her cheek. The horse is doing well on medication and will have the wire surgically removed in the very near future.

FVC has some big, exciting news! We are adding another vet to our team in 2024! Here is a sneak peek of what is to come...

Kristin Kirkland, also known as Kris, is a dedicated mixed animal veterinarian with a profound passion for both equine and companion animals.

Born and raised in New York, Kris's journey led her out west to Montana where she fell in love with the small town atmosphere, before eventually settling in Wisconsin.

Kris is on track to graduate from University of Wisconsin-Madison in early 2024, where she has honed her veterinary knowledge and skills.

Beyond the realm of veterinary practice, Kris leads a rich and fulfilling life. Her diverse interests include reading, writing, painting, drawing, photography, hiking, and traveling. Additionally, she finds true joy in horseback riding, liberty work and development of the human-horse bond.

At home, Kris lives with her partner, Tyler, and a loving animal family. Dallas, her affectionate German Shepherd and Jojo her Shire Draft Horse are a constant source of companionship and love. In addition, she has three feline companions, Abi, Mia, and River.

Her approach extends beyond medical care; she takes the time to learn about the lives of her clients and the unique details that make their pets special. Kris understands that the bond between animals and their owners goes beyond the clinical setting, and she looks forward to the chance to be a part of these meaningful connections at Fredonia Veterinary Clinic.

Please join us in welcoming Kris to our team and our town!

Dr. Stephanie is now offering VSMT! You may be asking what VSMT is and how can it help your pet? VSMT stands for Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy. It is a healthcare modality used to identify areas of decreased range of motion in the body and increase range of motion/movement to those involved joints. It has effects both locally and systemically.

VSMT can be utilized for maintenance, as an adjunct therapy, for acute or chronic dysfunction, to help athletic performance, and for the reduction of pain/discomfort.

We are running a 30% off special on the initial visit for small animal and equine VSMT patients. Both small animal and equine visits include Class IV laser therapy and a brief lameness exam!

Please call us at 262-692-2439 for more details and to schedule your appointment today!
