Uplands PEAK Sanctuary is now PEAK Animal Sanctuary! Our new name focuses on our acronym as we celebrate our 10th year of People, Earth, Animals, in Kinship. We are currently at capacity and unable to take in any new individuals. If you are looking for a home for one of our fellow animals, you may like to try the group on Facebook.

A cooldown isn't in the forecast, and we could use your help to keep the animals at PEAK comfortable. Fans, sunscreen, and batteries are just a few things needed. These are not exciting donations, but things that will make a HUGE impact. Thank you for being so supportive of PEAK!

We’d like everyone to welcome our newest rooster resident! He is a 5 1/2 week old buff Orpington. His previous owner had to find him a new home due to unforeseen circumstances. We’d like to thank Jenny Rife for contacting us and transporting him to Peak. 🥰
Love this!!

We are ecstatic to introduce you to CLIFFORD! 🥳
Clifford has a long healing journey ahead, and we're so grateful that the PEAK community is with us to champion our little red piglet to his best, most peaceful life here in Freedom.
Welcome home, Clifford! 💛🐷
We’d like to welcome our newest foster dog, here at Peak! Everyone say hello to Johnny! Johnny came to us from Save Korean dogs
He was rescued with a group of dogs in cages at a backyard slaughterhouse in Goyang, South Korea on July 1, 2021. Johnny is one of millions of dogs raised in Korea for dog meat consumption. He has endured and witnessed horrific and unspeakable cruelty in his short life before being rescued and safely taken to the Save Korean dogs sanctuary in Korea. He was at the sanctuary for several months before finally being taken in by a foster in Florida. He was there for about a year and then fostered by our volunteer coordinator, Tarra Danner for a year. He is now here at Peak living a peaceful life with other dogs and cats until we can find him his forever home.
Due to the trauma he has suffered through, he is very timid and it will take patience and time for him to warm up. He is fearful of men and it takes him a little more time to feel comfortable around them. He does prefer women. He is completely housebroken, walks well on a leash and gets along great with dogs and cats. He is extremely quiet and the perfect houseguest! If anyone is interested in learning more about Johnny, please contact Rayann Sanchez
815-901-5501 or Maria at 847-431-4000.
His estimated birthdate is 5/5/20 and he is neutered and up to date on all his medical needs.
Please share and help us get this handsome man his forever home! Thank you
As little man has been going through physical therapy. Sally and him have become increasingly curious about each other. Today we let them explore together and everything went beautifully at least until Sally decided to steal his ball!! However, all was well because he decided the mudd was a better idea anyway.

📣 Our sweet little piglet has gone long enough without a proper name! We want help from our terrific community to help name our newest resident. Please offer your suggestions below for this 35 pound guy, and we'll vote! ⬇️
Hi everyone!
Due to the huge amounts of rain and sunshine we’ve received this summer, our hayfields are READY to be baled and let loose to regrow for the season again! While this is wonderful news, PEAK is in need of volunteers this upcoming Friday (5/31/24) to help us load and stack hay into our hay building. Unfortunately, it is supposed to rain on Saturday, so all of these bales will need to be picked up on Friday to prevent them from rotting.
If anyone can volunteer even a few hours of their day on Friday, we would greatly appreciate it. We will begin picking up hay around noon and would love to see you there! Please email Tarra at [email protected] with any questions you may have or if you’re able to make it.
Applications are now open for our 2024-25 LEAP educational program!
LEAP (Leaders for Ethics, Animals, and the Planet) is a transformative education initiative that engages high school students nationwide. From September to May, students dedicate around 10 hours each month to work and learn at PEAK tending to rescued animals, undertaking infrastructure projects, and delving into issues such as veganism, environmental sustainability, and climate action.
As a participating sanctuary in the LEAP program, PEAK will host a select group of up to eight high school students for the 2024-25 school year. Students will benefit from a blend of interactive lessons and hands-on experiences, enriched with leadership training and skill development. Learn more and apply on our website!

Pip wants you to know!!
A great way to support Pip and his fellow residents around the sanctuary is through fruit and vegetable donations. Especially as the weather is getting warmer are residents really enjoy receiving a cold snack and as you can imagine we go through tons of snacks here at PEAK. On our wishlist linked below you can find plenty of canned options to send directly to us here at the sanctuary. Our canned fruits come in great handy when we are running low on fresh items or during our winter months. Or if you’re able to stop in with some fresh fruits and veggies we’d always love to see you!
Some great examples of fruit and vegetables our residents love include…watermelon, pumpkins, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, apples, lettuce, cabbage, peaches, and so much more. If you are thinking about donating goods to us and are unsure if they are suitable or safe for our residents please send us a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

UPDATE! Our little piglet is still at Purdue awaiting surgery to repair his injured leg. Poor little one has had to fight off an infection before he's cleared for surgery.
The team at Purdue is working on acclimating him to slightly deeper water for physical therapy. He didn't really swim, but he had a good range of motion with his leg. When he got out, he was actually starting to bear some weight on that limb - usually just the toe, but that's the first time they’d seen that! Progress!
His upcoming surgery will be nearly $10k. We appreciate your support and donations! Thank you!
It’s a hot day! Lily and Sally want everyone to stay cool, whether it’s sitting in the shade or finding a spot in front of the fan! 🥰
