my makeovers. I am
so thrilled.

My name is Jill and my best friend, Jersey, my
Lhasa Apso and I reopened Jersey Jill's in 2021. I am the Owner and Master
Groomer of Jersey Jill’s and have been a dog lover
and owner my entire life. My experience in dog grooming goes back to high
school, where I worked as a bather at a local salon. I was also grooming my Lhasa Apsos and West
Highland White Terriers for several years before
deci

ding to go to school for professional dog
grooming. I completed dog grooming school in a personal
salon, which gave me great hands-on experience
and couldn’t wait to open my own store, which I
did in 2010. After six years in the industry and a few change of
life events, I moved to north Jersey and returned
to life as a Registered Nurse. My background is in
Trauma/Emergency Medicine as well as experience
in corporate arenas. I am also certified in Pet CPR/
Heimlich Maneuver/First Aid. After a few years,
I realized how much I missed and loved all of my
dogs, customers, and my true passion, so I decided
to re-open my salon and return to what I love. My sweet Jersey has since passed at the age of 16 years and 3 months and I have opened my heart to my new baby, Brinkley, also a Lhasa Apso. Both loved beyond measure. WHAT MAKES JERSEY JILL"S

Here is a picture of severe matting on a dog. While we want to leave them fluffy and long, we need to make sure they are brushed and followed with a comb down to the root skin area. This creates severe pain on a dog as you can see it’s coming off in one piece. We have also found skin issues, wounds, and bugs underneath coats like this.

Remember just because it’s cold doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have routine grooming maintenance. It will grow back and he will need to have a coat or a sweater on for protection from the elements but at least we can say he’s comfortable.

Update: For all who are asking, Deedee is approximately one year and is cat friendly!
Can you believe this is the same dog?! It is clear that in the short year of her life Deedee has certainly received less than quality care, if any. In fact, she arrived so incredibly matted that she was initially mistaken as a boy. We always knew there was a beautiful little dog under all that hair and we were so right! Deedee is your typical happy go lucky little puppy. She loves to zoom around and play with anyone who will shower her with love and attention. Our little lady is so incredibly tiny that she can become easily overwhelmed by other dogs and would prefer to live with children ten and older who understand that, despite her micro size, she is not an extra cute little toy. Show this beautiful girl the life she has always deserved! Stop by our shelter and ask about adopting Deedee 🌸

Just a reminder…🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾

Well…we know it’s cold and we want our dogs to have fur on them, routine maintenance is highly recommended for their health and well-being. We are able to do longer haircuts and still keep the warmth for them. Also keeping their sanitary areas (privates, behind and paw pads as well as inner ears and eye corners) shaved clean and tidy for cleanliness and infections is also very important.

For the short haired dogs such as German Shephards, pitbulls, mutts, and so on, having a bath, the dirt, dander and salt washed off them as well as dead coat and under coat removed is very important for skin health and to create a brighter and shinier coat.

We are finding a lot of skin issues and dried skin on the dogs creating hotspots and itchiness for them. Regular bathing, and observation of their skin is so important. Some of this dryness and itchiness is attributed to dry heat and low humidity.

Ears plucked and cleaned, nails kept short and tidy, bath and blowouts for dry, itchy skin some with salt on them and also to keep an eye on matting (knots) is important.

Please stay on a regular schedule to maintain your dogs health and well-being.

Just a reminder, we use an oatmeal shampoo on every dog with NO extra charge. We care about their comfort and health as well, of course! 🩵💜
