We wanted to take the time and welcome Dr. Christy Peters for joining us here at Petmedic. She is a great edition and will be here on Thursdays!
Christy Peters is a fun loving veterinarian who comes to us from mid-coast Maine with 11 years of emergency medicine experience and six years as medical director and partial owner of an emergency hospital. She has a special interest in wound repair and ultrasonography and enjoys surgery. Her optimistic and enthusiastic attitude keeps our days with her upbeat and interesting. Outside of work she spends her days with her husband and 4 children on their small farm in rural Maine where she cares for their horses, goats, guinea hens, chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats. She loves hiking, riding, and knitting. She is especially passionate for emergency and urgent veterinary medicine.

Beginning Tuesday, January 14, PetMedic Freeport will be closed on Tuesdays. Our hours of availability will remain the same for all other days of the week, with appointments available from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is a temporary schedule adjustment and we anticipate returning to availability on Tuesdays later this spring. Everyone meet Buddy! 🐾

Buddy is an 8 year old yellow lab who is the sweetest dog you’ve ever met!
Buddy’s mom’s dream is for him to be therapy dog for special needs children. Buddy learned, on his own, how to do certain tasks his mom needs (picking anything up she points to) and is an excellent best friend for his special needs human brother.
You may ask, well why isn’t Buddy a therapy dog?
Well Buddy is a victim of happy tail. So much so he has left dents in walls! He recently split his tail open again and it did not heal, so Buddy’s mom elected to have his tail amputated to prevent any more pain and discomfort for him!
Buddy did great for surgery and went home this evening!

We wish you well Buddy and we know you’re going to do great things in the world! ❤️🐾

Meet Cowboy! 🐱🐾

Cowboy had wanted a cozy spot to lay on this afternoon and had decided to jump on the woodstove and burned his paws. Luckily Cowboy’s mom called us immediately so we could address his feet!
We administered an injectable pain medication so he would be much more comfortable and then bandaged each foot.
Cowboy was a perfect boy and we wish him well! ❤️

We are currently experiencing a large volume of critical patients. Please be advised that we will have longer than usual wait times. Please call ahead if you have a pet that needs to be seen. We work on a triage-based system where the most critical patients are seen first. Please be patient with our staff as we work to see all of our patients and provide the best care possible for everyone.

Introducing Sweetpea! 🐾🧡

Sweetpea came in to see Dr. Keenan and the team due to getting a bell stuck around her lower jaw. After giving Sweetpea a little bit of sedation to help her relax and be more comfortable, the team was able to get the bell off!
