Preorder your DeMeester's Apple Cider Doughnuts and pick them up on doughnut day, August 31, 9 am - 1 pm.

They are so good, don't forget to get enough for your co-workers, your postal carrier, your hairdresser, your kids' teachers, your dog groomer, or anyone who you think needs a treat. It’s a great way to show workers how much you appreciate them this Labor Day and also to help the shelter.

We will have a limited supply of doughnuts available for same-day sales, but if you want them, your best bet is to PREORDER, August 23-30, by calling the shelter at 815-232-6164, 12-4 pm.

Doughnuts will be $12/dozen.

NEW BOARD…Fourth Drawing

The Queen of Hearts was not revealed.

The winning ticket was Jim’s and was #26 on the board. It revealed the Seven of Clubs. Jim was present; therefore, 6 free tickets for the next drawing were distributed.

The pot rolling forward is $1910!

NEW THIS BOARD…after the drawing for a chance to reveal the QoH, there are three additional tickets drawn. The drawers get to select a door on the Extra-Prize ‘Let’s Make A Deal’-esque container. The winners were:

Joyce who selected Door #3 and won a free pizza (compliments of John, the owner of Royal Pub) and three free tickets to next week’s drawing.

It’s going to be a small dog party on Saturday! Our small-breed puppies and dogs who are currently in foster care will be at the shelter from 12-2 pm. We have a large variety of small dogs available, so please come by to say hello and maybe meet your next best friend.

As someone mentioned today at the end of our Rock and ResQ fundraiser, it really does take a village.

Thank you to the many people who volunteered their time and services, who donated awesome items for us to auction, who put up tents and tables in the heat and humidity, and who came out in this heat and humidity with open hearts and wallets to support the shelter.

Rock and ResQ Live Auction Item! This adorable creation of Deb Sauka’s is filled with dog and cat treats. And it also has a $25 Culver’s gift card so you can treat yourself. (But don’t forget they have pup cups!) Deb is well-known to anyone who has adopted from us. She makes the adorable bags for supplies and food that we send home with each and every animal we adopt out, and she makes blankets and cat beds for each animal we adopt out. She is a treasure and we appreciate her hard work!
