Awesome concert last night at The Rex Theatre in Manchester, NH seeing Willie Nile and his band again (we first them this past November at the Rex as well). It was also a great thrill seeing my 15-year old son Paul and his cousin George meet Willie and have their photo taken with him (Paul's on the left of Willie, George's on the right). Such a special and memorable night as Paul's been listening to Willie's music since he was five years old and knows most of his songs by heart.

Completed a first edit yesterday for our client JSI on a new video on home radon testing for the Maine Division of Environmental and Community Health. It's our second radon-related video as a year ago we and JSI also produced a radon testing video for the New Hampshire Division of Public Health Services and the New Hampshire Radon Program.

Remastering work continued this morning with Marc Vadeboncoeur at Goodheart Media Production Services on our 2005 film, 'Dangerous Crosswinds'. Since the film was shot and released prior to many of the production and editing advances of the past twenty years we are attempting to use new editing tools to enhance the color and sound in a manner which wasn't possible before.

Had a wonderful meeting yesterday in Concord, NH with Matt Newton. Matt's a filmmaker and for many years was the Director of the New Hampshire Film Office. I first met Matt back in 1996 when he was a film student at Keene State College when he and his crew worked as the sound mixers on our film, 'Old Man Dogs'. Especially exciting yesterday was discussing options and strategies regarding moving forward with our new feature-length film.

Since I was in the area yesterday I took a few photos of the Mill Pond Dam area at Lake Massabesic in Manchester, NH. Back in 1996 this pond served as the location for the lake scenes for our film, 'Old Man Dogs'. The area is more developed now as there are even several parking spots for visitors. During our shoot we had received permission from the Manchester Water Works and, at the time, I remember it felt like we had the lake to ourselves for that weekend. Great memories...

A long but fun shooting day yesterday working again with Marc Vadeboncoeur from Goodheart Media Production Services and our client JSI. In the morning we shot interviews and B-Roll footage at the Littleton High School and then, in the afternoon, traveled to the Gorham Middle High School for additional interviews. Looking forward to starting the edit.

Today Marc Vadeboncoeur at Goodheart Media Production Services and I started the process of remastering our 2005 film, 'Dangerous Crosswinds'. The film was shot and released prior to the many production and editing advances of the past twenty years so Marc and I hope to utilize such tools to enhance the color and sound in a manner which wasn't possible before. Also, before we start pre-production on our next feature (the script is done and currently making the rounds with friends and crew), we plan to get all of 'our ducks in a row'. This means that the remastering of both 'Dangerous Crosswinds' and our first feature-length film, 'Old Man Dogs', plus revamped websites, IMDB pages, etc. are among the projects we're hoping to soon complete. Fingers crossed...

Two great shoots last week at the DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Downtown for Pike Industries as part of their MSHA and Workzone training sessions. It's always fun working with Pike who have been a client for Back Lot for over twenty years since we first produced an orientation video for them in 2004.

Really proud of Jeff Rapsis, Silent Film Accompanist for all the awesome work that he's been doing - I hope the screening went well last night!

Look what's on the front page of the Boston Globe's 'Weekend' section! Thanks to Odie Henderson for this fantastic preview of our screening of 'The Flying Ace' (1926), which I'm accompanying on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Somerville Theatre in Somerville, Mass. Full story linked in the comments below. Also, thanks to Amelia Mason of WBUR in Boston for a great preview as well. Hope all this coverage encourages folks to check out this rare surviving film from Norman Studios in Jacksonville, Fla., which produced features for segregated theaters during the silent era. See you at the Somerville as we celebrate the start of Black History Month
