We recommend Adam and Julie of Near's Tree Service. They took down the 70ft pine next to our home, one section at a time. Very happy with their work. Please consider Near's Tree Service in Newaygo County if you are needing trees and stumps trimmed or removed. 🥰

We have two POAs that we'd like to find forever families for. Palomino Mare that went over height.... beautiful mare and I also have her 3 year old dark brown son. Both are champion bred...and correct. Also registered IQPA. PM me if interested in more information and photos. Thanks! Marta

Agree...but it's also about your hands.

I have never used one here. Side pull or bosal only. I've had a few ponies that have been sensitive to metal, the size or type of the mouth piece...it usually shows up during the ground work phase. I will try different types of bits till I find a mouth piece and/or metal they are happy with. If they are happy in their mouths they will carry a bit quietly and won't be in a big hury to spit it out. It does take time to get them used to carrying a bit, but if they struggle and won't relax...that's a problem.

The type of metal matters... because the body is electric...and metal can create a current in the mouth...think of the zing you can get if metal is put in your mouth. They can have the same type of sensation. Cheap bit materials are usually the problem more than sweet iron and copper. I use SS sometimes also. I will start in side pull then move to snaffle, bosal and then shank...prefer short shanks over long. Process can take a couple years to complete.

A bit is the most important tool in your box, spend the money and get a good one.

If your horse won't stop you don't have a bit problem....you have a communication problem and need to go back to groundwork and ground driving....teach horse what whoa means....then transfer to your seat...teach one rein stop. Reprogram. Don't get a bigger bit.

Best thing to do is to train the horse to ride from your spine, seat and legs, so you can stay out of their mouth.

Oh...and get rid of the spurs! You really don't need those if you know how to ride with your body. Your horse will thank you and should deepen your relationship.
