Furry Friends Rescue Dedicated to the Rescue, Sanctuary (Volunteer Foster Homes) &
Adoption of Companion Animals. No. CA We have no office, building or shelter. Each one is special.

Furry Friends Rescue (FFR) is a all-volunteer foster home-based non-profit Bay Area companion animal rescue organization (Non-profit Tax Id: #94-3308178 501(c)(3)), comprised entirely of experienced and dedicated volunteers who collectively have rescued and home fostered over 16,000 dogs and cats since 1998. All dedicated hero foster homes. Every rescue dog and cat get TLC, holistic/fresh/high qua

lity foods, supplements, home training and vet care. Once they are healthy (2-3 weeks or more depending on the dog or cat's health and behavior needs), then adopted to their forever loving homes for life as a true indoor family member. We ensure careful screening with experienced counselors, home visit for safety and support. We take our dogs and cats back for life to ensure their safety so they are never abandoned again. Foster home love their fosters as their own pets. United and inspired by our compassion for all animals, we focus our talents on saving dogs and cats destined to be euthanized in Bay Area shelters. Each rescued animal is provided veterinary attention, including examination, immunizations and spay/neuter. Then the rescued dog or cat is placed into one of our safe haven foster homes where he receives lots of TLC and basic family member training. Most of our dogs and cats are well behaved and are ready for adoption. A few may need special care to recuperate from medical, mental or physical neglect/abuse; or to regain their confidence and trust in people. Since November 1998, we have saved over 16,000 animals and the numbers are growing every dayβ€”along with 6000+ Guardian, Shelter & Rescue Assists! Our volunteer home foster about 100 dogs and cats (of all ages from young to seniors, mom and babies and special needs. Please see our "Purple Heart Miracle Club" https://www.furryfriendsrescue.org/about_us/miracle_club

Our successful team is based on core values of friendship, integrity, honor and mutual respect for each other as a team. Our shared love for our furry friends binds us to our common goal. FFR's primary focus is to utilize our talents and energies in innovative ways to save even more innocent lives by expanding our Hero Foster Home Network. https://www.furryfriendsrescue.org/about_us/foster_home_network

A key part of FFR's philosophy and practice is to build alliances and network with other reputable shelters, rescue organizations, veterinarians, doggie day cares, trainers, media and caring companies. By working together, we can save more lives together and help to eliminate the unnecessary deaths of so many adoptable animals while enhancing the lives of people as well. We pride ourselves on our great team work. It takes a village of volunteers to save thousands of dogs and cats and find them their forever family homes. Please see photos of the FFR volunteers in action on our photo galleries on our website:

If you would like to be part of our team, please check our Volunteering page. To donate, please see our Donations page. For more information, email [email protected]. In the USA annually, 6 to 8 million dogs and cats are placed in shelters, and 3 to 4 million of them are euthanized because they are unable to be placed in homes. Help save a furry life!

Amazing! 🀩 This city shelter has to handle and care for very high numbers of abandoned pets. It takes a large village of heros to never give up. πŸ’œπŸ˜Emotionally it’s a huge struggle. 😒

Most other shelters have 30 to 100 dogs and cats. They adverage 300 pets daily. San Jose shelter deals with 200 and highest 300. These counties need more free or low cost spay and neuter clinics and tougher animal welfare laws.

. .

Together, we changed the lives of 833 dogs in July and August! πŸ’“

That’s 833 dogs in Stanislaus County who found loving homes, foster families, or a fresh start with one of our amazing rescue partners.

This milestone would not have been possible without all of you:

🐾 The community who shares our posts, spreads awareness, and chooses adoption.
🐾 Our fosters who open their hearts and homes to give dogs the second chance they deserve.
🐾 Our volunteers, who show up every day to walk, care for, and love our shelter dogs. They capture their best moments in photos, run playgroups, evaluate and network dogs, and assist with events. Their compassion changes lives.
🐾 Our rescue partners who step up, even in the face of challenges, to give our dogs a path to forever. We can't thank you enough!
🐾 And to our incredible staff, who show up every day and keep this work going, because we all know there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing a dog finally go home or leave the shelter for a brighter future.

Every single role matters, and every act of kindness adds up to life-saving impact. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this journey.

Together, we’re making happy endings possible, one dog at a time. 🐢❀️

Study of 175 dogs shows eating dark, leafy greens reduces cancer risk by 90% πŸ₯¬

In this 2005 study, 92 Scottish Terriers with urinary tract cancer were compared with 83 without cancer. Their pet parents were asked to fill out a detailed questionnaire about their dog's diet in the year prior (before their diagnosis).

The results were striking.

In dogs who were eating dark green, leafy vegetables more than 3 times a week, the risk of cancer fell by 90%. That's veggies like kale, spinach, and broccoli. They also found that dogs eating yellow-orange vegetables, such as carrots & pumpkins, more than 3 times a week, reduced their cancer risk by 70% 🀯

Of course, there are limitations to this study - not least that pet parents were being asked to remember what their dog had eaten up to a year previously.

Can you remember what you were feeding your dog a year ago? Genuine question - maybe you can. So too, 175 dogs is not the smallest sample size we've seen in animal studies of this nature, but it's not huge either, increasing the chance that this could be luck (or bad luck in the cases of the poor dogs with cancer). Again, can we extrapolate from Scottish terriers to all dogs?

Nonetheless, we find this an interesting study - what do you think? 🧐

New rescue sweetie! ❀️😍 Bowzer, Havanese & Schnoodle mix, 6 1/2 yrs, 17 lbs., needs dental cleaning, extraction and neuter. Did great with vet. He was smelly dirty. πŸ’œπŸ₯° Huge Thanks to his hero foster home, Kim, for bathing and blow drying him at Pet Food Express after his vet care. He was a good boy during his bath. Bowzer is quiet, friendly, and charming. Already happy and good with her dog. After his bath, his coat is soft and fluffy.

Huge thanks to Evon, long distance transporter. Perfect sweetie. He loved playing and running with other dogs at the shelter. Thanks to Tama Veterinary Hospital for squeezing him for exam and needs.

More info to come as he relaxes and learns at his foster home. He will eat healthy foods and will get his dental and neuter in about a week. New dogs get vaccines, toxin from the shelter and deal with the stress of all the changes. They need time to adjust and rest first. We will post on our website soon. 😍

πŸ’œπŸ˜ Please sponsor Bowzer. His donation link is on his posting. Thanks!
Donations are greatly needed and appreciated to help us cover his Dental Cleaning, Extraction and Neuter. Will cost us about $1200 - $1400. Shelters never cover the cost of additional vet needs. We have to for his health.

We are seeking rescue for this adorable family! LITTER ID: A602624 At Stanislaus Animal Services Agency

Tis the season for itchy dogs, and we have the home remedy for you!

Avoid all toxic neurotoxins pesticides. FDA has written warning on the dangers and how toxic the chemicals are but have not banned it like other countries have. Greedy corporation profit with fancy million dollar marketing vs health and safety for your dog and cats. It's a vicious cycle of sick pets that need to see their vet more and get more pills. Get it? Same for humans. There are tons of articles about natural repellent. Do your research. On our Holistic Care page on our website. Read The Forever Dog
