Appreciation post!

THANK YOU to everyone who has worked hard to keep our horses happy during this wild fall season with no rain and 80 degree weather. October is usually a great time for grass to grow before winter comes, and well… that didn’t happen.

Special thanks to all of Kelsey’s team of barn grandmas and aunties who help me at this farm because I couldn’t do it without you guys when I have her at the barn with me ♥️

And lastly, grateful for the herd of ponies on our farm that adapt to change, dry weather, cold and hot temps, and dust clouds. They’re overall saints for their riders of all ages and I couldn’t ask for anything more.

HIRING FOR ASSISTANT BARN MANAGER - Kingwood Twp, NJ (Hunterdon County)

We love our current employee but she is moving out of state, so we are looking for someone to replace her job duties beginning mid-end of February 2025.

Ideal candidate would manage the day to day routine of our farm with 24 horses. We are not looking for someone with multiple farm/assistant/instructor jobs as we prefer to have a one person-one farm individual that would dedicate their time to getting to know all of our horses , rather than feeding grain, throwing hay and marching out.

Here is what is important to us:
- a diligent, responsible employee who shows up to work on time every shift and knows that this job entails working in the outside elements… if it’s 105 degrees or 6 degrees, animals still need to be fed and cared for.
- Someone who is polite, kind, honest, and respectful to our boarders, all animals on the property, and professionals in the industry that come in and out on a daily basis.
- Someone who can work independently, prioritize appropriately and appreciate flexibility within their day knowing that horses can turn our day around unexpectedly 🙃
- Individual would take time getting to know each horse and what their do’s/dont’s are while understanding that every horse is different

Requirements:
- Valid drivers license and must be legal to work in the US
- 35 hours per week which include rotating days, and rotating weekends/holidays.
- Work full days with lunch break
- Work half days
- Stalls will be required
- Must have previous experience working with horses, which also means you can remain calm in stressful situations and/or with rowdy horses
- Knowledge of equine health and management
- Job includes equine management/care, and also exterior property maintenance like dragging pastures, arenas, scrubbing and refilling outside water troughs, etc

Other info:
- biweekly pay
- No housing

I know this is asking alot, but our current Assistant Barn Manager has done outstanding things for our barn, leaving us with big shoes to fill. We would like to find someone as her replacement in advance of her final day of employment, so that she can be present for the training of a new employee. And happy retirement to old Duke man, who has done his job teaching so many kids the most important things about horseback riding, and life in general. He owes us nothing, and we owe him everything.

Can’t express enough gratitude to Helping Hearts Equine Rescue, Inc. for making this happen, and for all of the people in Ethan’s life who gave him so much love and made him such a special pony. He’s a lucky one! 🤎
