Took the girls trick or treating on their lesson horses tonight!
We had a mounted police officer, Disney descendant, black angel, Freddy Kruger, and I was a blue chicken.
We went to all my neighbors and erin did a trunk or treat in the driveway with some awesome swag bags for all the girls.

Centre County 4H district show with my girls aka students.
Want to know something cool?
Some of these girls belong to Clearfield County 4-H, but they still came to the center County show cheer on their friends, the ultimate display of sportsmanship, because when they make it to States, they will be competing against each other.

That's what I love about this sport, and that's what I admire about these girls, competition aside they still root for each other on the sidelines.

Pony Playground is happy to announce my second team of state qualifiers.

Nancy and Oakie, oh how you make me proud!

You have come so far, and I'm happy for every success that you have.

There was some stiff competition at districts, and this dynamic duo brought their A-game to the show. They will be competing at the state 4H horse show in Harrisburg in bowtie.

I believe this makes 2 years in a row, that you have had me and your parents bawling our eyes out ringside. And we wouldn't change it for the world.

Now move your ass fast Alice at states!!!

Sophia Warner leases my personal horse Diggy in 4H.
Her goal has been to make it to States for the past 3 years. Maybe 4 I can't remember.

Yesterday when I was coaching her, I kept telling her to visualize the perfect barrel run in her head.
I'm not sure who she pictured in her head....maybe Martha josey riding Pegasus?

Of course, to my dismay, it seemed her age group had the fiercest competition and was one of the bigger classes. Of course I didn't voice that out loud to her.

I would coach her before she went in, and then I would lead her up the alley, they would close the gates and I would silently pray while she made her runs, and then I would sit there anxiously awaiting the results of the class.
The anxiety was killing me, and it was exhausting from the highs and the lows in the adrenaline rushes watching her go on a horse I trained and loved.... I knew they had it in them, but I didn't realize how much they actually had it in them until they called the results of barrel racing horses.

Top four horses made it that day because the classes were so big, and when they called number 407 Sophia Warner in third place as a state qualifier, I put my head down and I cried my eyes out over in the corner by myself leaning along the edge of the Arena. And I mean the ugly cry.

I am so proud of you Sophia, for what you have done with Diggy in less than a year!
Your dedication, your hardwork, and love for my horse all paid off.
You are an inspiration and I absolutely can't wait for States!

Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster.
We woke up at 4 am and pulled back into the barn at 10 last night
The coaching, watching the girls make their rides, praying for clean runs and sturdy feet on the horses, and then anxiously awaiting results for their classes.

I had 4 girls compete yesterday.
Hayden, Sophia, Jersey and Nancy.
I'm proud of every single one of them.
They all received a top 5 ribbon somewhere along the way yesterday.

Nancy and Sophia are now officially state qualifiers.

And I have to say, there are so many rules in 4-H that sometimes it seems it's difficult to navigate, but at the end of the day it's worth it. You see, it's not just about learning to win, it's about learning to navigate the rules, it's about your support team, and how to Choose Wisely on who you keep yourself surrounded with because it matters, it's about learning how to be a teammate with your horse, and it's about learning how you deal with last minute show schedule changes, how to be prepared, and how to be happy for your friends when they're standing in the winners circle.

4H isn't just about showing horses and livestock, these are important life lessons that these kids will need for the rest of their lives.

I am proud of each and every one of you.
And I am so glad that you chose me as your coach and your trainer, because as I said to Erin, a mother's approval is the highest compliment that I could possibly receive!

The Pony Playground proudly presents: Natalie and Darla. Natalie is 5 yrs old. This is her first year riding independently. She might be tiny, but I assure you she is quite a professional cowgirl who takes her horsemanship quite seriously. She won't even let me walk beside her to jog anymore and always rewards her pony after a good ride! You can catch this tiny team competing at the Clearfield county fair this coming July 11th -20th They'll be competing in halter, trail, barrels, poles and keyhole.
