Pony Playground is happy to announce my second team of state qualifiers.

Nancy and Oakie, oh how you make me proud!

You have come so far, and I'm happy for every success that you have.

There was some stiff competition at districts, and this dynamic duo brought their A-game to the show. They will be competing at the state 4H horse show in Harrisburg in bowtie.

I believe this makes 2 years in a row, that you have had me and your parents bawling our eyes out ringside. And we wouldn't change it for the world.

Now move your ass fast Alice at states!!!

Sophia Warner leases my personal horse Diggy in 4H.
Her goal has been to make it to States for the past 3 years. Maybe 4 I can't remember.

Yesterday when I was coaching her, I kept telling her to visualize the perfect barrel run in her head.
I'm not sure who she pictured in her head....maybe Martha josey riding Pegasus?

Of course, to my dismay, it seemed her age group had the fiercest competition and was one of the bigger classes. Of course I didn't voice that out loud to her.

I would coach her before she went in, and then I would lead her up the alley, they would close the gates and I would silently pray while she made her runs, and then I would sit there anxiously awaiting the results of the class.
The anxiety was killing me, and it was exhausting from the highs and the lows in the adrenaline rushes watching her go on a horse I trained and loved.... I knew they had it in them, but I didn't realize how much they actually had it in them until they called the results of barrel racing horses.

Top four horses made it that day because the classes were so big, and when they called number 407 Sophia Warner in third place as a state qualifier, I put my head down and I cried my eyes out over in the corner by myself leaning along the edge of the Arena. And I mean the ugly cry.

I am so proud of you Sophia, for what you have done with Diggy in less than a year!
Your dedication, your hardwork, and love for my horse all paid off.
You are an inspiration and I absolutely can't wait for States!

Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster.
We woke up at 4 am and pulled back into the barn at 10 last night
The coaching, watching the girls make their rides, praying for clean runs and sturdy feet on the horses, and then anxiously awaiting results for their classes.

I had 4 girls compete yesterday.
Hayden, Sophia, Jersey and Nancy.
I'm proud of every single one of them.
They all received a top 5 ribbon somewhere along the way yesterday.

Nancy and Sophia are now officially state qualifiers.

And I have to say, there are so many rules in 4-H that sometimes it seems it's difficult to navigate, but at the end of the day it's worth it. You see, it's not just about learning to win, it's about learning to navigate the rules, it's about your support team, and how to Choose Wisely on who you keep yourself surrounded with because it matters, it's about learning how to be a teammate with your horse, and it's about learning how you deal with last minute show schedule changes, how to be prepared, and how to be happy for your friends when they're standing in the winners circle.

4H isn't just about showing horses and livestock, these are important life lessons that these kids will need for the rest of their lives.

I am proud of each and every one of you.
And I am so glad that you chose me as your coach and your trainer, because as I said to Erin, a mother's approval is the highest compliment that I could possibly receive!

Lex and Kip

Lex has been my student for many years!
Do NOT let her quiet demeanor and pretty innocent face fool ya!

She is the first one to leave dead toads and legs off of roadkill in my barn as practical jokes

She's a smart cookie with a great work ethic and this girl is going to go far in life. Not afraid to try new things....to the point that her 4H horse choice is unusual itself.
Meet Kip. He was a rescue. He's also missing an eye. Lex took on the challenge of barrel racing this boy...and they're really coming along

He trusts her. And she is learning to give him verbal cues when it's time for him to turn a barrel.

I'm really excited to watch these two bond, build trust and enter the show ring this year.

Wish them all the luck in the world as they compete in Clearfield county 4-H shows, Clearfield county fair and will be in the parade as monkeys!

Natalie and Franny

Natalie, Natalie, Natalie, oh how far you've come!
I met you when you rode a pint sized pony and your cowboy boots came up to your knee caps.

You started out on a leadline and now I get to watch you train your very own horse.
(You know the horse I sold your mom and you quickly put a claim on her)

And you are doing it quite well.
I love watching your progress every week!
(Although sometimes the amount of speed you and Fran are picking up makes Holly and I chew our fingernails and flinch a little)

Your dedication, your love for the horse and not just for the ribbons, your work ethic and your kindness to everyone is inspiring.
You never complain about 1 more lap working on leads even if you can't breathe and you go out of your way to help others with their work after your done with yours.
You are going to go far in life!!!

I'm so proud to call you one of mine and thank you for letting me be your coach.

I wish you the best of luck for 2024

Meet Quinn. She's only 3 yrs old and wants to be a barrel racer.

I informed her she already is. Her and Darla have about 5 or 6 patterns under their belt now.

She's getting pretty handy with a set of reins,
I can't wait until she can reach her stirrups.
Until then she's on a leadline with me jogging beside her.
And believe me, she likes to jog. A lot.

This little adrenaline j***y cowgirl loves Darla pony, is obsessed with rodeo, and reenacts horse movies with her toy horses.

She really is one cute Lil rootin tootin cowgirl

Nancy and Oakie.

When I met Nancy, she was a green rider.
Still on a leadline. She was the sweetest little shy sweetheart I had ever met. I made her nervous. Which made lessons awkward at first.

When I met Oakie, he had some physical issues that required a lot of maintenance and thinking outside the box. But his former owner would talk me through his regimens, and I got the bucking issue and limited range of motion sorted out.

Nancy started out on Oakie during lessons.
And decided she would like to lease him 4H.

This leadline rider became an overnight success.
There were good rides. There were bad rides.
There were nights she couldn't get the Ole gray man to get out of my neighbors grassy yard and quit snacking.

But her desire to ride, made her absorb everything like a sponge.

That year they made it to 4H states in keyhole!

But my favorite moment of all, was when her mom secretly bought Oakie from me and surprised her at the Clearfield county fair with him.
With a big bow wrapped around his neck for her birthday.

You can see them at the Centre County 4H shows, local shows and doing a routine during the Clearfield County fair parade!

I sure am proud of ya cowgirl.
You've come a long way in a short time.
And I can't wait to see where your horse journey takes you.
I'm just glad I get to be a part of it

Addi and Chyna.

Addi started out on Darla pony, and has now moved up to a horse.

She is as kind as she is adorable.
She's my little cheerleader and if you were in the grandstand at the Clearfield county fair last year, she was the one that brought our act together with the grand finale by standing up and doing a flying toe touch off her pony in a gown!

The crowd went CRAZY for her!

You can see her at the fair again this year doing her acrobatics on her horse during the parade and she'll be showing all week during the Clearfield county fair and riding out back in the arena

Jersey and Billy.

1st pic was when I first met her years ago.
2nd pic is her and her very own horse Billy!

She has been my student and my friend for a very long time.

It's strange how we went from me teaching her how to ride and now when I have trouble with Darla or fixing problems on a pattern on her own horse, I put her in the driver's seat.

You've come a long way little buddy!
I wouldn't trade you for anything!
Jerseys personality is over the top (she could possibly be my child) and she brings the sunshine to our team.
She is always the first to help others and coach them through tears

You can see her and Billy this year competing in Centre County 4-H, Clearfield county fair, tearing up the track at the fair parade and local fun shows in our area.
This Sunday she'll be at Logan Valley Broncs show

Sophia and Diggy.

Sophia is turning a mean 2nd Barrel here at her first show of the season.

At the age of 13 turning 14 very soon, she shows more dedication to the love of the horse more than most adult professionals I have ever seen.

It goes way beyond sitting in the saddle for her but man can this girl ride.
There's not a horse on my farm I wouldn't hand the reins over to her.

You can see this dynamic duo compete at Centre County 4h shows, Clearfield Co fair and they will be burning up the track during the fair parade in front of the judges.

Wish them luck and wish Sophia good rides for her birthday this weekend at the Logan Valley Bronc show!

I get asked a lot "WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO AT THE PONY PLAYGROUND?"
"Is it like 4-H?"
The answer is:
*Do you want adult riding lessons? We do that.
*Do you want riding lessons for your child? We do that.
*Do you want to join in on group lessons? We do that.
*Do you want your child to be part of a group of other horse loving, animal care giving children? We do that.
*Do you have a horse that needs trained? We do that.
*Do you have a horse in need of short term boarding? We do that.
*Do you want to attend fun shows that are truly JUST FOR FUN? We do that too.
It is just as much for the adults as it is the "little's".
(We have trailrides and clinics for the adults and we have fun days for the littles. We do that too. )
I started off giving childrens riding lessons...and it just blossomed from there. We have become our own unofficial group.
"PONY PLAYGROUND POSSE"

Anyways...We ride together, encourage each other, ALWAYS HELP EACH OTHER, and share our victories or our hard lessons for the day..

That is the SHORTEST answer I could come up with for "what do you guys do at the Pony Playground?"

They are as badass as they are pretty, and that goes for the horses and the kids ride them.

Thank you Logan valley Bronc for the great show yesterday.
The kids and I had a fantastic time and looking forward to doing it again.
