GREAT NEWS! As of yesterday, "husky dog" has a new name!
Thanks to you and the caring public, there were nearly 300 name submissions to choose from. We selected the top five names and let our beloved pup pick his favorite.
Balto is still waiting for just the right foster home, though - preferably one without other dogs.

We have some VERY exciting news to share. Yesterday, Justin Haynes was sworn in as our newest Humane Officer.
Officer Haynes is the 41st Humane Officer to work at CCSPCA and can exercise the powers of a peace officer to enforce state animal cruelty laws, make arrests, serve warrants, and file criminal charges directly with the Fresno County District Attorney’s office to prosecute offenders.
CCSPCA Humane Officers Jesse Boyce and Shalee Thornhill have overseen and investigated over 400 cases of neglect/cruelty in Fresno County in the past fiscal year. The addition of Officer Haynes will allow the team to investigate even more cases and give a voice to the animals in our community who can’t speak for themselves.
Officer Haynes was hired as an animal control officer at CCSPCA in 2016 and continually embodies our mission to provide protection, placement, and education to ensure responsible animal care.
Wish him a congratulations in the comments!

On September 27, 2023, at 11:55pm, security cameras at the Butler Pentecostal Church located at 3552 E. Butler in Fresno, CA caught this individual approaching and stomping a cat. The following morning the cat was found by members of the church and the CCSPCA was immediately contacted. Upon arrival, our Humane Officers found an adult, female, tabby cat with a broken jaw. The cat is now recovering from major reconstructive surgery. If you recognize the suspect in these videos, please contact the CCSPCA at 559-233-7722 or the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000. Please help us deliver justice!
Thank you FUR supporting yet another successful $5 Fundraiser, which helped us buy 36 more stainless steel pans for the cats in our care. We had a furry friend help us with the unboxing this time...😉
We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about animal welfare and furthering the mission of the CCSPCA.
Whether you like walking dogs, cleaning kennels, socializing with cats, assisting in the office, helping customers, or you wish to become an ambassador at our education, adoption, or fundraising events, the CCSPCA can utilize your skills to help animals!
Help us find King a home! King A49645724 is a 4 year old, male black/white Labrador Retriever blend. King has been waiting for a forever home since December 2022 and has become a staff favorite. King wants to tell people about himself:
“I enjoy going for walks, I’m an affectionate dog and often lean on people for pets and back scratches.”
This boy is housetrained and will only go potty outside. King’s favorite treats are anything peanut butter or fruit flavored.
His tricks are his hand shakes so he can exchange them for treats, pets or to politely ask to get out of the bathtub when taking a bath. Do you need a Starbucks buddy? He can be yours because he loves those pup cups!
King is available at our Adoption Center, located at 103 S. Hughes Ave., Fresno, CA 93706. We’re open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Questions? Call (559) 233-7722 x 119 or email [email protected]. Visit our website to view all of our adoptable animals!

A couple weeks ago, we launched our inaugural $5 Friday campaign and you really showed up for the animals!
In an effort to provide excellent care for the cats/kittens, we’ve pivoted to using stainless steel litter pans versus disposable aluminum ones. These are essential for the daily care of our cats, easier to clean/disinfect, & better for our environment.
Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to purchase 36 pans! Woo hoo!
