Animal Compassion Team of California (ACT)

Animal Compassion Team of California (ACT) ACT is a non-profit, dog and cat rescue, dedicated to helping the animals in Fresno County. Having said that, why would we choose to dive in deeper?

The vision for ACT has been brewing in the minds of the Animal Compassion Team founders for many years. The paths we have walked have prepared us and tested our determination through hard work, buckets of tears, mountains of f***l matter (a favorite topic of discussion amongst animal rescuers), and more then our fair share of discouragement and heartbreak. For the love of the animals we serve. It

is just that simple. Dogs, cats, and other wonderful animals are dying in huge numbers daily. We hope to help change that. We moved beyond the discussion phase and filed the paperwork necessary to become a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation with the state of California and the Federal Government. It is a huge leap of faith for all of us who already feel overwhelmed by the work we are doing but we believe this is the time....this is what we have all been preparing for. One life saved makes all the effort and emotional investment worthwhile. This is going to be an exciting journey and we hope to post MANY happy endings on this blog. The animals are already arriving......stay tuned .....we have only just begun!

UPDATE:
Bandit has left the building. He sparked the interest in one of our fabulous multi adopters. They came and got him just now. We are doing a sleepover to make certain he’s happy with their family. We are hopeful Bandit is in his furever home. Get him in your thoughts and prayers. 🤞💕

We need your help!!!
Meet Bandit, Bandit is the sweetest snuggle buddy you’d ever meet. He’s 14 years old and sadly lost is home due to an unfortunate situation with his mom. She loved him to pieces but couldn’t take care of him anymore. She took such wonderful care of him his entire life and it shows. Bandit is still a lively pup with many years left in him. He sleeps a little more but is ready to go for walks and then snuggle and watch a movie with you. If you could feel him fur, it’s a soft as cloud. Bandit gets along with other dogs and loves all people. Let’s make 2025 the year for Bandit. He would really like his own bed and family to snuggle up with.
Seniors need homes too, let’s make it happen this year.

Hurray for Zacian!  Dad thought it was time to bring home a new companion for Sydney(big doggy).
He hoped to find a puppy for her to love and build a bond with. He never thought he would find a pup that looked just like her. During their meeting, it was clear that  Zacian (the pup) was enjoying Sydney’s presence. Zacian is certainly going to add a little more energy to this home but it’s very much welcomed by dad. Congratulations 🎉

Hurray for Enamorus!  He is now in his furever home. After seeing him on our website, both mom and dad knew he was what they were looking for. They search for a puppy that could grow up with their son. A puppy that could offer companionship to all of them and they in return could offer him a life filled with lots of hugs, kisses and love. Congratulations 🎉

Hurray for Luke and Liam!  They have found their furever homes. This couple decided to rescue the newest additions to their family. Yes, there will be double the medical expenses, the training, the food, the beds, etc. , that’s expected and not a burden. What they see is, two of the sweetest, most affectionate fur babies in the world who need them as much as they want them. They have the love and patience that’s needed for this new chapter in their lives. The boys are already loving their new life with their new mom, dad and big fur brother. Couldn’t be happier for all of them. Congratulations 🎉

Big Hearts for Big Dogs: Why Large Breed Adopters Are Heroes

At Animal Compassion Team, we welcome dogs of all breeds, shapes, and sizes because we believe every dog is an individual with their own unique story and heart full of love. From lovable pit bulls with their goofy grins to energetic Huskies who are ready to explore and those good old-fashioned mutts who seem to have a little bit of everything, we adore them all. Large breed dogs often face challenges finding homes, but they’re every bit as deserving of love and family. When you choose to adopt, you’re helping us save not just one life, but countless others who are waiting for their chance.

Adopters who embrace medium and large-breed dogs are vital to our mission. These dogs, with their wagging tails and endless affection, are more than just pets—they’re loyal friends, adventure partners, and loving companions. At ACT, we don’t see breeds or stereotypes; we see good dogs. Whether it’s a pit bull who’s ready to be your couch buddy, a Husky eager for snowy escapades, or a mixed-breed marvel with a heart as big as their paws, we know every one of them has the potential to become someone’s perfect match.

When you adopt a large breed dog from ACT, you’re making an extraordinary impact. Each adoption not only changes the life of the dog you welcome into your home but also makes room for us to rescue another. So, whether you’re dreaming of a big lap dog, a hiking partner, or just a four-legged friend to love, we’d love to help you find the perfect addition to your family. Because here at ACT, it’s not about size, breed, or background—it’s about love, and we just love good dogs.

Saving Lives Changing Lives

Nine years and counting. Ten thousand lives and counting. Animal Compassion Team is a team that is committed to saving and changing the lives of the homeless pets of the Central Valley of California. We work tirelessly on their behalf. Founded in 2009 by a group of friends who saw the need for change, ACT has been growing and going strong ever since.

We rely on financial support from wonderful donors such as yourself to save lives. We rely on the goodness of our volunteers to help us provide excellent care to those in our charge and we cannot say enough good things about our adopters: Without wonderful people providing home to our animals we could not move forward.

Would you like to join the team? Donate? Volunteer? Adopt? Please email [email protected] and she will get you started.
