💛🐶Breed of the Week🐶💛
The Pomeranian is a high spirited and intelligent breed. They are the smallest of the German Spitz-type dogs and in some countries they are known as "dwarf spitz". Pomeranians get their name from the region of Pomerania, where their ancestors were bred as sheepdogs. The original dogs were white and were much larger, as much as 31lb. During the late 19th century the Pomeranian was selectively bred down to "toy" size due to Queen Victoria's enthusiasm for small dogs.
Pomeranians enjoy human company but need a firm and gentle hand during training so that they do not become overly dominant. These dogs are very vocal, they're typically friendly but can be bossy. Families with young children may not be the ideal home for this breed. However, they are very loyal, intelligent and eager to learn. These perky pups are great at learning trick's and with proper training they can even make excellent and effective guard dogs.

💛🐶Breed of the Week🐶💛
This week we will be recognizing one of the most grossly misunderstood breeds, the American Pit Bull Terrier. The "Pit Bull" is not actually one breed but includes the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, the American Bully, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Historically, they were bred as fighting dogs which gives them a negative and often unwarranted reputation. Like any other dog they are as good as their training and make extremely loyal and affectionate family pets.
In the early 1900s Pit Bulls were given the title "Nanny Dog" because they were known to be loving and loyal especially when it came to babies. Their main goal is to make their master happy, they are extremely intelligent and eager to please and can be trained to do all sorts of commands. They have a Zest for life and keep their goofy puppyish demeanor well into adulthood. They are house dogs who love to be around people and are an absolute joy to live with.

As temperatures start to rise this summer lets be sure to keep our pets safe from the heat. Here are a few tips to make sure our furry friends stay safe this summer!
▪️ If you can't put you hand on the pavement for 5 seconds, then it is too hot for your dog to walk on.
▪️Walk your dog when its cooler, early in the morning or late evenings.
▪️Make sure your dog has plenty of water and shade during the day.

💛🐶Breed of the Week🐶💛
The golden retriever is one of the most popular dog breeds world wide. They originated in Scotland in the mid 19th century. An aristocrat, Lord Tweedmouth, crossed his Yellow Retriever with the now extinct Tweed Water Spaniel. They were later made by crossing an Irish setter and the Flat Coated Retriever. The outcome was an active, highly intelligent, sociable, beautiful and loyal dog. They are also very lively and can be slow to mature, keeping their silly and playful personality until almost four years old.
Golden retrievers' friendly and tolerant attitude along with its intelligence makes it a good fit for both a family pet or a working dog. They are guide dogs to the blind, offer assistance for other disabilities and make great therapy dogs. They're effective in search and rescue teams and can detect drugs and explosives. Some even compete in field trials and obedience competitions. No matter what their role may be, their main goal is to please. This breed is said to be good at all jobs, except being a guard dog because they're so friendly.

💛🐶Breed of the Week🐶💛
These cute companions are one of the newest "designer dog" breeds. They were first introduced in the 1990s in the US and Australia. They are a cross between poodles and the golden retriever. While no dog can be truly hypoallergenic the Golden Doodle's skin sheds less dander and their coats shed more lightly than others making them allergen friendly!
Golden Doodles come in standard size and can also be smaller miniature size if bred with a toy or miniature poodle. They are a playful and gentle breed that craves social interaction. They are also easy to train thanks to the intelligence they inherited from the parent breeds. Golden doodles are in demand as guide dogs, assistance dogs and therapy dogs but would also make a great addition to a family with children.😀

💛🐶Breed of the Week🐶💛
This week we are honoring the French Bulldog! Fun fact; this compact companion is not actually French, they are descendants of the British Toy Bulldog that existed in England during the 18th and early 19th centuries. Frenchies were bred for companionship, they're very social and love interacting with humans. These pups love to communicate and will make subtle playful noises to get your attention.
The French Bulldog is not a fan of exercise due to its short snout and difficulty breathing. Frenchies can stay happy and healthy with short walks or daily indoor play. They crave constant companionship and are sensitive creatures, not only do they give a lot of love they expect it back in return.

💛🐶Breed of the Week🐶💛
This week we are celebrating Huskies! These lovable furry friends have a double coat whose inner layer retains heat and a water resistant outer coat to keep warm and dry in cold weather. Huskies are working dogs, very athletic with high energy and an independent nature. They were long used as sled dogs by the Chukchi people of Northeastern Siberia and in World War II they were even used by the US Army Arctic Search and Rescue teams.
The Siberian Husky was recognized by the American Kennel club in 1930, the same year exporting stopped. They are pack animals and need to be around people and other dogs alike. Huskies are a friendly breed and make great companions but need plenty of exercise. Fun fact about their eyes; they can be brown, blue, one of each or even particolored! Heterochromia is so common in this breed its been accepted as one of their unique traits.
