Due to inclement weather in the fall of 2020, the planting of to***co was delayed a couple months this past season...
Here in one of Oliva To***co Co's farms, just a couple months ago the higher primings of to***co were harvested in Esteli, Nicaragua.
The to***co seen here are varieties of Cuban Seed (Habano) grown in Esteli, Nicaragua.
To***co grown in Esteli are particularly known for their strength due to the rich, volcanic soil in the valley.
Each to***co plant is harvested in stages or primings, from the bottom of the plant (volado) to the top of the plant (ligero).
The lowest primings are typically not used in premium ci**rs.
Harvesting is particularly labor intensive as there needs to be care in handling as to not damage the leaf.
Within hours of harvesting, the to***co leaves are strung together by hand and immediately transported to curing barns.
Over the next couple weeks, this to***co will go through a careful, gradual process of dying in the barn.
Heat and moisture are carefully controlled in the barns as to slowly cure the to***co.
Essentially, the to***co is going through a slow, controlled death.
If this process is not monitored 24 hours a day, to***co can be easily ruined and even worse disasters like barn fires can entail.
Only after the to***co has reached a certain color and texture is the to***co ready to be moved from the curing barns to the pilones…
🙏 🙏 🙏 to Rob Gagner @boveda_rob and @bovedainc for taking the time to do an interview with me during TPE 21 @to***coplusexpo this year. And, as always, for all their support through the years! We wouldn’t be able to deliver our high quality ci**rs at optimal humidification without their products in every box we sell!
BONUS: New Dapper Interview drinking game - take a shot every time I say “right”. 🤦♂️

What’s it take to establish your own cigar brand? A lot of hard work, a little luck and in a word from Ian Rieth - naiveté. 📲 (Full ep in bio.)
We’re extremely honored to make the @halfwheel Top 10 List for 2019 with Cubo Sumatra. Receiving recognition of this level is not possible without our partners at @nacsaesteli and Oliva To***co Company. Raul Disla’s integral involvement in our production at NACSA and OTC’s ability to grow and ferment amazing to***co allows us to make world class ci**rs... and this ranking is a reflection of that. So from our small team at D.C.C., and behalf of our production partners — thank you for the recognition. 🙏 🙏 🙏

#Repost @hannah.desch.ceramics Check out just a portion of the incredible amount of work that Hannah puts into making this year’s El Borracho Maduro LE Ceramic Humidors. These limited pieces are truly labors of love!

Here's my process of making the ceramic cigar humidors. After I build them, they need to dry slowly to prevent warpage and then they go through the first firing. After that initial firing, I hand them off to @thecigarprophet so he can handpaint each one. Then they all get a clear coat of glaze over his unique designs for a glossy finish, and then go back in the kiln! @dapperci**rs
