Posted • Is it time to give up the Fourth of July fireworks? Given the explosives’ impact on pets, wild animals and air quality, for Margaret Renkl the answer is clear: “It would be so easy to find a new way to celebrate the founding of a nation,” she writes. “So easy, at the very least, to limit fireworks to public celebrations meant to bring communities together. When those communities use low-noise fireworks, as well, they limit the stress on people and animals, and they mitigate some of the dangers to local wildlife.” While that wouldn’t address the pollution caused by fireworks, it would be a good place to start, Margaret argues. “The truly American thing would be to join together to make every change we can reasonably make to alleviate the suffering of our fellow creatures, human and other-than-human alike.” Click the link in our bio to read more. | 🎨 Philotheus Nisch/Connected Archives

You can’t ruin a dog with comfort and kindness. ❤️

Since he doesn’t sleep on the bed with us, I take extra care assembling Finchy’s spot, which currently includes an elevated dog bed, two faux shearlings, two Kantha quilts, and a twin-size down-alternative comforter. 🙌🏽

My classes & private work with fear/anxiety/aggressive behavior always include ample helpings of Body Language study and how to provide dogs with choice and agency. Are there other ways I can provide education for kids and adults in my community?

Lost dog near us! Keep an eye out!

MISSING! Recently adopted WAMAL Alumni Tanaka fka Starsky

Honeymoon Bay, Whidbey Island, WA area!!!
Lost foster dog. Scared of people. Owners have asked for help. If you see him please call Sabra Whitlock +1 (425) 583-4969
If he wanders into a fenced area, please close the gate and call.

Escaped Dog! He is a large rescued Malamute just broke free from his harness this morning. He was just adopted a week ago and doesn't really know his name or familiar with his new home yet. His name is Tanaka, he's a 2 year old and weighs 90 lbs. He's wearing a blue collar with tags on it and may or may not be microchipped yet.
He's not aggressive but he is very scared of people as he was an abused dog from a puppy mill. Last seen running down Honeymoon Bay Rd. and into the housing developments in the Holmes Harbor area. DO NOT APPROACH as he will just run the opposite direction. If he runs into an area that you can close him in, that would be very helpful. Please call Elizabeth Husband at 425-356-9038 or Jack Husband at 360-929-2177.
Their address is 1376 Bellwood Lane off Honeymoon Bay Rd. Thank you.

Has anyone spotted this handsome boy? Lost near Fourth of July beach!

!! LOST CAT !!

Islanders! This handsome guy went missing last night while visiting 4th of July Beach. He's friendly, but he's likely scared and in an unfamiliar environment.

If you see a large, longhaired, orange tabby cat anywhere near the parks on the south end of the Island, please call the shelter immediately at (360)378-2158 or the Sherriff's non-emergency line at (360)378-4151.

His person is very worried, and we would love to see him back home safe and sound!

My social media is acting up a bit and I haven’t been posting much because of it! So I made a little ‘week in the life of Lucky Fido’

I get asked about this a lot and this is a nice overview of terms.
