We took Donnie Baseball LOF, aka "Matt" to the Young Horse Show Series (YHS) at Allforit Farm, LLC today.

Much larger class of yearlings, I think 15? I saw a few others in the class that were quite lovely.

He won the class! So happy!

You'll have to wait for the professional photos for anything nice to look at. Jack had to stay home, and I'm a horrible photographer!

Just got my pictures from Donnie Baseball LOF , aka, Matt’s first show! Thank you Bethany P Photography for capturing his moves!

We took him to the Young Horse Show Series (YHS) at High Point Hanoverians last month. He placed 1st in the yearling division.

Matt is a 2023 premium Holsteiner Verband - North America c**t. He’s by Don Quichot (Quite Easy I/ Ramiro/ Alme) out of our 2nd generation Premium Holsteiner mare Zamboni Babe (Ciceras Icewater/Calando I/ Lord Incipit)

He is as sweet as he is beautiful! This boy will be a fantastic dance or jump partner for a special person. Look at that trot! And the reach in his canter. 😍

We will continue to work with him and show until he sells.

Successful day! At the Young Horse Show Series (YHS)! In a small, but quality group of yearlings, Matt got 1st!

Donnie Baseball LOF (Don Quichot/ Cicera's Icewater/ Calando I) aka Matt, was super.

He handled his first trailer ride w/o mom like a pro. New place, indoor arena, new handler, no issues. He's on his way to becoming a seasoned horse show pro!

I know we'll get good pictures from Bethany P Photography , so just took a couple on my phone to share.

Took our NoNo (No Hitter LOF- Cunningham/ Ciceras Icewater/ Calando I) our 2020 mare to her first dressage show. It was a schooling show put on by Potomac Valley Dressage Association - PVDA wonderful first experience for her!

Here's her first test, T1. Stared at the judge, and the spook is when someone took a big yellow plastic bag out of their car. 🙄 Besides that, she was wonderful.

Took our NoNo (No Hitter LOF- Cunningham/ Ciceras Icewater/ Calando I) our 2020 mare to her first dressage show. It was a schooling show put on by Potomac Valley Dressage Association - PVDA wonderful first experience for her!

She's been shown in hand at the Future Event horse classes and the Young Horse Show Series (YHS) since she was a yearling. Her scores helped us earn ratings from United States Sport Horse Breeders Association for the past 2 years. But this was her first experience "adulting" 😁

I was super pleased! We did T1 & 2. A couple baby spooks, but overall she was a rockstar and gained a lot of fans. We got 3rd in T1 and 2nd in T3. I'll post videos of both tests in a minute.

I really like how he's developing. and he's still such a sweetie! great for the vet and farrier. He walks right onto the trailer, leads well, loves being groomed, just an all around gentleman.

He's still in his winter fuzzies, but he's filling out and his trot 🥰 Will he follow in daddy's hoofsteps and be a dressage prince? Or his mother line and do the big sticks? His pedigree shows unlimited potential.

And a nice trot KK offered. She's playing with the bit a lot right now, typical baby. I'm trying hard to just maintain a steady contact and not pull or punish her for figuring the bit out.

This is KK's 2nd time over after tripping the first time. She was a bit hesitant, so I let her check it out and didn't push hard. When she relaxed, I turned away and she walked right over. So pleased with her willingness to learn and go forward.

Videos from our New Year's Day ride. This short video is her first time going over a cross rail with ground rails. She stepped between the rail and x, tripped, but walked on. I'll post the video of the 2nd approach next.

Got to ride Kalled Strike LOF on new years day. It was cold and windy. She hadn't been ridden in a week while we visited family over the holidays.

Despite all distractions, she was lovely. I'm so pleased with how she's developing.

So, in prep for the cold weather I figured I'd put a roundbale into the run in shed of the young horses; NoNo, KK, and just weaned Matt. I think I need an air horn on the tractor. 🤣🤣🤣

AND! In the In-Hand/At Liberty class, for the Young Horse Show Series,

KK (Kalled Strike LOF) came in 8th with NoNo just behind tied for 9th! Out of 73 horses nation wide who qualified for the finals and however many didn’t receive qualifying scores!

I’ll post a clearer pic in the comments. KK (Kalled Strike LOF) had the 7th highest score of all 3 year olds in the jump chute national wide!

That’s out of 80 qualified horses, and however many showed that didn’t qualify for the finals!

AND! NoNo (No Hitter LOF) was right behind her little sister, tied for 8th!!

Spoiler alert for my next posts, NoNo also came in tied for 9th in the In-Hand class class scores and tied for 8th in the Jump Chute.

I was finally able to ride both our 3 yo fillies yesterday. With all our traveling, weather, and me being sick neither had been ridden since we were at Tryon for the YHS Championship, 12 Nov!

I was especially pleased with the bay, Kalled Strike LOF (Cedrus MM/ Ciceras Icewater/ Calando I). KK, my little bay girl sticked in at 16.2 1/2! This was only the 4th time I've ridden her since getting her back from saddle training the week before YHS Championship.

No Hitter LOF (Cunningham/ Ciceras Icewater/ Calando I) is improving every ride. I forgot to stick her, but she's taller than KK.
..an Matt is cute as ever. Such a friendly little guy!

Matt is a very correct modern c**t, well balanced, and a light mover. He is everything we hoped for in this cross, except we wanted a filly. We bred back to Don Quichot hoping for a similar quality filly next year.

With his movement, excellent conformation, and athleticism, Matt is sure to excel in jumping or dressage. His friendly personality and easy-going ways also make him an excellent candidate for a serious hunter.

We expect him to mature 16.1-16.3. He was presented to the Holsteiner Verband and awarded premium. The judge commented on his outstanding conformation, rhythmical walk, and powerful canter.

Don Quichot was an International dressage stallion with world class jumping talent and bloodlines. He sadly passed away this summer, so Matt is one of the last foals by him. Approved in Belgium as a 3yo, he completed IDR4* with Caroline Osmont (FRA) and Manuela Osmont (COL) with extensive international experience in CDI-W****. He qualified for the 2015 Pan Am games and was pre-selected for the 2016 Rio Olympics. His dam, Reina, produced Todd Minikus’ super star stallion, Oh Star (Laudanum xx). Oh Star’s full sister, ‘Navarette’ produced the famous 1.60m BWP stallion ‘Tresor’ (Papillon Rouge) with Steve Guerdat (CHE) and 1.60m BWP stallion ‘Hamilton’ (Contact vd Heffinck) with Dimme d’Haese (BEL). Another daughter of Reina ‘Perle d’Or’ (Laudanum xx) produced Pieter Devos’ outstanding BWP 1.65m gelding ‘ESPOIR (Surcouf de Revel). Don Quichot was known for producing foals with excellent brains, temperament, and athletic ability.

His Sire, Quite Easy, is still one of the best stallions in the world in all disciplines. He was WBFSH Jumping Sire top 100, 8 years in a row, 2019 WBFSH Eventing Sire ranking 4th, 2020 14th . In 2019 he ranked USEF 10th best stallion (Hunter), 17 th (Jumper) & 21 st (Eventing). In 2020 he ranked USEF 9th (Hunter), 14 th (Eventing) and 36th (Jumpers).

Matt's Dam, Zami, is my hombred mare.
Zami was presented for approvals as a 4yo and was reserve champion mare at her approvals. She scored 7666887, receiving 48 bonits and Premium Mare status. She won her Mare Performance test with a score of 77.1% and free jump scores of 999! The judge's comment to me was "This mare needs to be bred!" Zami has so far produced three foals for me. The first two, born in 2020 via ET have been shown extensively in the Future Event Horse and Young Horse Show Series, scoring so well that Lead Off Farm was rated 4th of all US breeders by the USSHBA for 2023!

Zami's Sire, Cicera’s Icewater, was the highest scoring stallion ever approved in the 25 year history of the AHHA. He received 53 bonits and was crowned the National Conformation Champion. Icewater competed with team O’Connor, winning a CCI* in Kentucky and other events and was ridden up to PSG in dressage. He qualified and competed in the 5 year old YJC Finals at the Hampton Classic. His offspring have been exceptional over the years with many in successful sport careers. Icewater is truly a stallion for sport breeding but also produces top breeding mares. His offspring are well tempered, athletic, big movers and scopey.

Zami’s dam, Kalinka VII (Calando I/Lord Incipit/Farnese) was purchased in Germany as a 3 yo. She had just received her Premium mare status, scoring 7677777, 48 bonit points. Her sire, Calando I, produced over 26 approved stallions and over 100 mares receiving premium status in their studbook approvals. Calando I was so well received, the same match to his Dam Furgund, was made 14 times, producing five more approved stallions (Calando II - VI). Calando I produced many rated jumpers and dressage horses. He himself was competed by Karsten Huck, jumping internationally, with good showing in Dublin, Rome, and Calgary, and in 1984 Calando I won the German national championships.
