When planning a hike or visit to a state park with your pet, here are three top tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience:

🏕️Check Park Regulations: Before heading out, make sure to check the specific rules of the state park you plan to visit. Some parks may have restrictions on where pets are allowed, and others may require pets to be on a leash at all times.

🐕‍🦺 Prepare Your Pet: Ensure your pet is physically ready for the hike. This includes having all necessary vaccinations, being in good health, and having a sturdy 6-foot leash. It’s also wise to bring along a pet first-aid kit, dog booties for rough terrain, and a portable water bowl.

🚮 Practice Responsible Pet Ownership: Always clean up after your pet by carrying p**p bags. Respect wildlife and other hikers by keeping your pet under control and away from sensitive areas. Also, be mindful of the environment by not allowing your pet to drink from standing water sources

Remember, these tips are just a starting point. Always prioritize the safety and well-being of your pet and the natural surroundings you’re enjoying together.

Summer is in full swing! ☀️Don’t forget these important tips:

1. **Never leave your pet in a parked car**:
- Even for a minute! The temperature inside a vehicle can rise rapidly to dangerous levels.
- On an 85° day, a car’s interior can reach 102° degrees within 10 minutes and 120° degrees after 30 minutes.
- Irreversible organ damage or death can occur. Always take action if you see a pet left inside a hot car

2. **Watch the humidity**:
- High humidity amplifies the negative impact of high temperatures on pets.
- When animals pant, moisture from their lungs evaporates and helps reduce body heat. However, high humidity hampers this process, leading to rapid increases in body temperature.

3. **Limit exercise on hot days**:
- Adjust the intensity and duration of exercise according to the temperature.
- On scorching days, limit exercise to early morning or evening hours.
- Be especially cautious with short-nosed breeds (difficulty breathing).
- Avoid walking pets on hot asphalt to prevent burns on their paws. Grass is a better option.
- Always carry water to keep your dog hydrated

4. **Provide ample shade and water**:
- Whenever your pet is outside, ensure they have protection from heat and sun.
- Add ice to water during heatwaves.
- Tree shade and tarps are ideal because they don’t obstruct airflow.
- Avoid relying solely on fans; they don’t cool pets as effectively as humans

Stay safe & cool this summer!😎
