Yesterday was a huge reminder for us on how important it is to have an emergency plan in place AND best prepare your dogs for emergency situations.

Crate training, leash mannerisms, and basic obedience is CRITICAL when you have an emergency. If something were to happen we know you want to keep your pet safe.

Some things to consider to help make you best prepared for the next emergency/disaster:

- Ensure your pets are microchipped/tattooed and it is registered
- Make sure you have an easily identifiable collar and tags secured onto your pet
- Label any crates or carriers your put your pet in with emergency contact information
- Take a good picture of your pet so in the instance they get lost or separated from you, people can identify them
- Practice crating your pet in a carrier/kennel, that way they are calm when they are placed in one
- Practice walking your dog calmly on a leash
- Practice basic obedience (sit, down, supervised separation from owner) so your pup will know what to do if the time ever comes
