FREEDOM RIDE FOR JOVI!
JOVI arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray and was having a terrible time. He looked terrified and would just freeze in place. Shelter staff said "When you look into his eyes, you can see that he feels lost, unloved, and abandoned." It breaks our heart. ππ
We're happy that this afternoon he's out of the overwhelming shelter environment and on the road to better days. He'll have a full work-up at the vet to ensure there are no underlying physical issues that might be contributing to his lost and terrified state of mind.
THANK YOU to the kind and lovely Lisa and her freedom ride sidekick/husband Clay, for helping us out with local transport support and getting Jovi out of the shelter today. We appreciate your taking the time out to help this little soul who really needed this chapter of his rescue journey to start today.
THANK YOU to Second Chance Animal Rescue for wanting to help this pup that really needed a hero, and fast. We're looking forward to the day when Jovi's eyes will be bright, and full of joy and life again!
And a bright future is in the near future only because of a Foster Family opening their heart and home to him. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
β£οΈEDITED TO ADD: We forgot to mention some of the most important and critical folks in a shelter pet's rescue journey... THANK YOU shelter staff and volunteers... those that truly care about giving the animals a fighting chance of making it out alive, when the odds are stacked against them. These folks not only provide the basics of food and shelter, but the countless hours cleaning, taking them out for walks and time in the play yard, allaying their fears, socializing, taking pictures & making videos, writing biographies so others can get a glimpse into the personalities and temperaments, doing dog tests, and cat tests, networking with rescues via email and social media, answering questions, oh the list goes on! Shelter workers see the worst of the worst on a daily basis, but they are the best of the best when they do these things we just mentioned. We wish every shelter would care like this, and many do... but sadly there are some that just do not seem to care. That makes us even more grateful for the ones that do. We love and appreciate everyone who took care of Jovi and made sure he got out sooner rather than later (or not at all). THANK YOU, THANK YOU... You are all the superheroes that these pets need.
