Nice work for all the HGF riders this weekend: Kerrigan and Mejorano placed 6th and 4th in the GP and GPF in the CDIW, and Sophia debuted Diego (Didacus) at national Inter I. But our High Scorer for the weekend was Sam Stenger with Morisco--the pair earned the exact same score of 70.357 from two different judges at 2nd Level Test Three. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for consistency!

HGF is pleased to announce an addition to its riding staff.

𝐀𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐨 𝐆𝐨́𝐦𝐞𝐳 𝐏𝐚𝐯𝐨́𝐧 joins the team as an Assistant Trainer, as of Nov. 2023.

Alvaro was born in Écija (Sevilla), 🇪🇸Spain. He began his riding education working for Juan Manuel Muñoz, with continued training with Jordi Domingo and Claudio Castilla. He has trained young horses from novice level upwards , and has prepared and showed youngsters in competitions and championships in both Spain and Northern Europe.

Alvaro runs his own dressage stable along with his partner and wife, Olympic rider Giovanna Pass , Sucandi in Ocala, Florida.

The Iberian Showcase was a huge success this past weekend at WEC. Many beautiful and talented PREs🪭 and Lusitanos were featured in the various demos, exhibitions and classes--not least of which were the horses of Hampton Green Farm who continued their winning tradition.

🔹✨🐴On Friday nighty, the HGF team joined the Iberian Horse Spectacular presented by the Baroque Equestrian Institute. performing the military quadrille in front of close to 2000 people. Then on Saturday, Maria Lithander and Kerrigan Gluch both led training demonstrations with HGF riders Sophia Schults and Samantha Stenger on horseback.✨🐴

🔹On the competition side, 𝐊𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐇𝐆𝐅 (by Grandioso III) continue to polish their Grand Prix test in preparation for this winter's qualifying season--this weekend achieving 76% and 74% respectively with the help of Shelly Francis. Kerrigan also won Saturday's large Open Prix St. George class with 69.4% with 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐅𝐒𝐑 (by Risueño XI) who has only done one prior test at this level.✨🐴

🔹𝐒𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐬 (by Utrerano VII) also have just begun to compete at the PSG level and took home their first win on Sunday with an impressive 68%.🐴🌟

🐴🇪🇸🇺🇸Two HGF-bred horses participated in the Iberian Challenge. Kerrigan and her own 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐇𝐆𝐅 brought home the blue at the FEI 5 Year Old level, and Sophia and her own 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐨 𝐇𝐆𝐅 claimed the second place spot for the Small Tour Level.

Wonderful coverage for Kerrigan's weekend...but we can't overlook another up and coming FEI pair. Sophia Schults has been bringing Diego (also known as Didacus) quietly up the levels and this weekend they had their first FEI win--at Prix St. George on Sunday, with a 68% topping a large class that included several other outstanding young horses.
Diego is a 10 year old gelding out of Utrerano VII, bred by Dawn Colmorgen in the US. He is one of our favorites, in spite of (or probably because of) his snarkiness behind which he hides his sweetness, and his late-blooming unbelievable talent for the exercises. This was his third PSG....keep an eye out for this one!

An exciting first day of competition in the Iberian Challenge!

In the Prix St. George, Kassandra Barteau, Sophia Schults and Tyra Vernon are all going into the freestyle tomorrow ranked within a half-point.

The Grand Prix is similarly competitive between Amina Bursese and Tyra Vernon--and those just behind these leaders are within shot of overtaking them in the Open Freestyle tomorrow starting at 2.15pm.

Sunday afternoon at the Iberian Showcase Weekend: Starting at 1.55,pm a musical display of beautiful horses and high level riding.

Following the exhibition ride at 1.55--at 2.19 is the FEI Freeestyle Test of Choice, which features the final rides for the Iberian Showcase Challenge--freestyles at the Inter 1 and Grand Prix level to determine the winners of the Challenge. This class features 11 riders and will be followed at 4pm with the Awards Ceremony for the Iberian Challenge. Don't miss this afternoon of music and beautiful Iberian horses!

Sunday afternoon at the Iberian Showcase Weekend is a Musical Extravaganza! Come see our horses do what they are known for around the world--dance!

Starting at 1.55 pm, Sandra Leubbe and Fetiche de Roldan will do a Grand Prix level Freestyle. Like so many people involved this weekend, Sandra is a new resident of Ocala, having come from Del Mar California via Wellington. Fetiche is a 13 year old stallion just back from the Central American Games where he represented the Dominican Republic...with a 15 year old rider! Sandra and Fetiche have been together since he was 6 years old, have competed nationally at Grand Prix and are preparing for their international debut at the level. Come meet Sandra and beautiful Fetiche!

And finally on Saturday, a most special appearance by US Olympic medalist and international superstar Lisa Wilcox! Lisa will be riding and schooling Victoria, a 5 year PRE/PSL cross owned by Kimberly Bursese. This mare is learning correct use of her core following early training for another purpose. The versatility of the Iberian horse is on display for this very special mini-class…don’t miss it! 3pm Saturday in Arena 2!

Rounding out the lunch hour on Saturday will be HGF's Head Trainer Maria Lithander and Staff Rider Samantha Stenger. Maria has been called the "secret sauce" behind the success of the horses and riders at Hampton Green Farm, and brings her own international record of accomplishments from Brazil, Mexico and Wellington. She and Samantha will conduct a mini-class focusing on the development of the gaits of a modern Iberian dressage horse.

More on Saturday at noon! Ocala newcomers Alvaro Gomez Pavon and Giovanna Pass will showcase their beautiful 7 year old Nobre Sucandi, bred at Gio's family farm in Brazil. Gio, a 2016 member of the Brazilian Olympic Team, is the youngest rider to compete at the Dressage Grand Prix in Olympic history. Alvaro has recently joined the riding staff at Hampton Green Farm. Don't miss their mini-class schooling a PSG level Lusitano in Piaffe and Passage.

Starting at noon this Saturday at the Iberian Showcase Weekend, we will present several mini-classes featuring trainers and their students on Iberians.

HGF's own Kerrigan Gluch and Sophia Schults will kick off the mini-classes with a demonstration of young horse exercises.

Throughout the dressage show this weekend, the Iberian Showcase at WEC will feature a number of exhibition freestyles and mini-classes, with horses performing or training at all levels through the GP. Be sure not to miss these special moments.

Meet Chelsea Akavickas! Chelsea is a local trainer from Ocala at CMA Dressage. She and her imported Brazilian Lusitano Deodoro VM have come through the levels together and will do a Grand Prix Freestyle during the morning break at 9.55 on Saturday.
