Update to Earlier Post:

Attached is a list of animals that are currently available. If you are interested, please contact John and I at the following email:

We will respond as quickly as we are able - at a minimum 2x day. And can provide a list with asking prices if you are interested. Keeping up with multiple messenger accounts and texts is a challenge - but we both see this email account, which will avoid any mixed messages.

We have show pictures on many but not all, and not necessarily current. We will provide as quickly as we can, but they will be in their winter clothes, likely a video, with no clipping etc. Many of these animals have deep show records - and those are available online. If you go to our farm page, then search on the goat's name, you will find LOTS of pictures for those that have shown or parents/progeny have shown with us.

The boers are heavy bred and we would be reserved about them traveling anywhere but nearby. The loaded recips are due first week of March but they could travel further if done so right away. For local folks, please feel free to come see them, just coordinate a time with John.

I will be posting some summaries, pedigrees, and other tidbits as I am able. John will likely be handling most responses on our behalf, so he may not have all the details until we can sync. So patience please. This has been a very hard decision.

**Announcement: Important Changes at Mantodea Farm for Boer Goats**

Dear friends and followers,

Due to family, health, and career obligations, we regret to announce that we will be drastically reducing the size of our herd. It's a difficult decision, but necessary for the well-being of both our family and our animals.

To give you a glimpse of our beloved herd, we've shared a few live teaser videos of them out and about today. We have bred does, recips carrying special embryos, teaser buck, FB & % bucks, jr does, future and open recips, show does and open donor does ready for your next flush and even a Nigerian Dwarf! If you see any animals that catch your eye, please send us a message. With kidding upon us, any bred does that can move along quickly to a close location would be considered. Otherwise available after kidding and kids can travel safely. We will be ready to review any offers.

We will be posting specific details about the animals available for new homes over the next few days. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

I'm so grateful for our snow goats! WHEN ITS SUNNY AND 75!

Ironic that ‘MANTODEA Snowy Opal’ and ‘MANTODEA A Kiss in the Snow’ were some of the few to venture out of the shed.

❄️I think I may need to change my “SNOWdoe” theme to “SUNdoe” for our white and blonde does. ☀️

Thinking of everyone dealing with extreme weather events, cold or tragically hot. Stay safe and stay strong, ya’ll.

Thank you to Knox Logan of K-LO Show Goats for allowing us this opportunity to bring home this buck that he campaigned so well this year. Have to thank Zeb also for ‘stashing’ him until I could work out things at home. And thanks to Denny for bringing him back from NAILE for us.

Knox and “Smooth” earned well over ~115 ABGA and ~35 JABGA points in this last year.

There were many more great results, but wrapping up their showing partnership on the green as the 🏆2024 NAILE CHAMPION SR Buck in both the JABGA and the ABGA shows🏆, I am sure made this sale bittersweet for Knox. 🤍

These successes should be no surprise considering his Sire, RBMG INNOVATER *EN* as the 2022 NAILE Yearling Champion (and a dapple!), but he also has almost 1,000 progeny points, and sold for $38K in 2021 at the Winning Traditions Sale.

Smooth’s maternal grandsire MADI/TRV Aftershock *EN* also needs no introduction, has earned 2,660 progeny points to date!

And frankly each and every goat in Smooth’s pedigree absolutely has a claim to fame. But one last note, as many knew we owned one of “The Party Boys”, BSA PARTY STARTER *EN*, (and still leverage him long after he passed) - well Smooth goes back to a third Party boy. “ITS MY PARTY” - so we do love having those ROR1 Fixin to Party and BSA Pass the Crown genetics back in there too!

We look forward to Smooth crossing over our “non-blondes” in the spring.

2024 Mid-Atlantic Buckle Series: Percentage Bucks

And for the last post of three, was for the Mid-Atlantic Buckle Series’, unsanctioned division for registered Percentage Bucks.

We took several young percentage bucks out for handling and experience that they otherwise may not have gotten-and several were in the Top 10. And of those we had the good fortune to get a lil white buck out a few times and he earned the honor of:

2024 Mid-Atlantic Buckle Series Results: Percentage Does

To continue on our earlier post about our Fullblood does are the results for a line of our percentage does and their successes this year in this series.

We were honored to be named the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Buckle Series’

🏆RESERVE HIGH POINT EXHIBITOR FOR PERCENTAGE DOES 🏆

This was earned with the 4th and 7th highest overall percentage does out approximately 80 does. What is even more special is these two are by the same dam, just a year apart. And a bit deeper in the rankings is another sister, Snowy Opal, and the dam herself, Pearl. 🤍

Additionally, our buck SAKB Dirty Deeds *en* sired several of our show string, of which 1 was in top 10 for % does and 1 for Fullblood does (and another that is his half sister).

2024 Mid-Atlantic Series: Fullblood Does

We are truly blessed to have the Mid-Atlantic Buckle Series in our area, which not only provides an incredible experience for our Youth, but also provides great opportunities for breeders to exhibit their ABGA boer goat stock.

For 2024, we were humbly honored to have had the 🏆HIGHPOINT FULLBLOOD DOE 🏆out of 187+ does that competed in this show series in the mid-atlantic area from April to October.

We also had the 3rd and 7th place overall highest FB does!

SPOOK-TACULAR ON THE SHORE

Such a fun show to wrap up our 2024 show season. Incredible costume contest, kids trick or treating and some goat showin’ ! Angel assisted me as Glinda the good witch, with a whole cast of Wizard of Oz characters.

This was BACKYARD BOERS SUGAR’s weekend. This 36+ Shockwave daughter did not disappoint with the 🏆Overall Fullblood Reserve Champion honors in all 3 shows 🏆.

MANTODEA RUBY, 6-9 mos %, was Jr Division Reserve Champion in two shows.

LCR95 SNOW ANGEL, 20-24 mos %, was Yearling Division Champion in two shows.

Newcomer to our farm, ZTJ RJDR JAMESON'S BLACK BARREL, 12-16 FB doe, was 1st place in all three shows.

2M BOER GOATS SPOT ON BABY and MANTODEA BIG SUMMER BLOWOUT, both had a solid weekends, even if they didn’t make it to the backdrop this time out.

Also, got to help a friend with her buck and we got him into his first ever overall position as Overall Reserve Grand champion. Fun to see her excitement, well really shock!

Was so nice to have John and the girls here too (Jazzy & Jolene).

Looking forward to the end of year brunch banquet for the Mid Atlantic Buckle Series in the morning. Rodney Wilson does a fabulous job orchestrating and hosting these shows - and it is a true family affair. So thankful for us to have these opportunities here.

We are overdue to announce a very exciting, gamechanger to our herd!

We had already begun to leverage Legacy into our genetics to chase my blonde ambitions, so when the opportunity came available from Rowdy Acres Show Goats (and John was out of town) - I jumped at the chance to bring him to Virginia.

This Fullblood, Blonde buck is powerful, rugged, and shows his deep South African roots with his broad jaw, gorgeous roman head, big foot, heavy bone and moves like a big cat.

Watch for videos and pictures coming.

And kids…we have a few on the ground already and they are certainly what we hoped for!

We are taking names for the waitlist for straws. We have done one collection (with EXCELLENT semen quality) during our flush and will be doing a few more this fall, so straws coming available soon!

IYKYK.

Many thanks to my devoted husband who found a way through the help of friends, excavators, and John’s own darn stubborn will, to keep both me and my goat addiction going…AND finally the rain stopped yesterday afternoon.

After the water on the bridge slowed enough John was able to clean out the pipes, water started running clean (meaning its no longer rising) and that got it down enough to get across with the trailer. We are now in route to lap ai and collection day, with 6 donors, 4 lap ai natural kidding does and a big ole buck. The trailer is bouncing and full of…hormones…

Appreciate our amazing repro vet who took our constant updates and multiple back up plans. And she was even prepared to drive to us and ready to cross the infamous swinging walk bridge (think Indiana Jones) to get our does covered for the flush next week.

We have not been ‘farm bound’ for multiple days like this since putting in this bridge a few years back.

Had a nice escape this weekend with a few does, some young, green and new to the lead, some older and hadn’t been in a ring in years. Overall there were ribbons, learnings and a great promise for the future.

Many thanks to all the volunteers from KGPA that make sure ABGA shows are a part of Keystone International Livestock Exhibition (KILE) at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. Big thank you to the judges traveling in and huge thank you to Sarah Rehmeyer for all her great pictures.

And I was blessed to have had our bridge flood waters to recede in time for me to come home today before the water went back up this evening. These flood waters at home are a constant reminder of the tragedies of Hurricane Helene. Many thoughts and prayers to all impacted. 💔

This Senior doe, has some favorite classic genetics - and an old soul look in her eye that just spoke to me. She just had to come home with me, to her new forever home which she immediately settled in like she had been here for years.

Thank you Josh and Cassidy Ganoe of GFXL for parting with one of their first special does purchased together. Hopefully she will make beautiful kids for us as well.

I suspect many animal crackers will be demanded by Coco in the near future.
