Caecilian Farm We are a small family farm raising happy pastured chickens for meat and eggs. We feed our chickens all natural local feed which contains no soy or GMOs.

Here at Caecilian Farm (pronounced "Sicilian"), we treat all of our animals with love and respect. Our chickens graze freely on pasture from dawn 'till dusk every day and are protected in their coop at night. We raise mostly Cornish Cross Broilers as meat birds, along with some Red Broiler Heritage Breeds. Chickens love to forage in the grass and soil for worms, ticks and any other bugs they can f

ind, as well as the grass itself. These critters are very healthy for both the chickens and later the humans. As a bonus, we also can a lot of tomatoes so our chicks feast on tomato seeds and other vegetable compost throughout the summer! This all goes into the health and flavor of these birds.

Our Story

Here at Caecilian Farm (pronounced "Sicilian"), we treat all of our animals with love and respect. We feed our chickens local high quality feed which contains no GMOs. Our chickens graze freely on pasture from dawn 'till dusk every day and are protected in their coop at night.

We raise a combination of a Heritage Rhode Island Reds and the more common Cornish Crosses for meat birds. The Heritage breeds have a darker and richer flavor, but grow very slow and are very small. The Cornish Crosses grow much faster and get much larger, and still are delicious! The last important part of this process is the pasture. Chickens love to forage in the grass and soil for worms, ticks and any other bugs they can find, as well as the grass itself. These critters are very healthy for both the chickens and later the humans. As a bonus, we also can a lot of tomatoes so our chicks feast on tomato seeds and other vegetable compost throughout the summer! This all goes into the health and flavor of these birds.
