The Humane Society was incorporated on April 30, 1973, to relieve suffering and to enhance the lives of animals through humane and educational services to the residents of our community. Initially an organization without an actual facility, the Humane Society was housed in a number of different locations. January 2, 2008, the Humane Society cut the ribbon on its new 14,000 square-foot Pet Rescue a

nd Adoption Center. The Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center serves as a center for pet adoptions and also provides animal control sheltering services for the cities of Gadsden and Attalla. The Society houses animals brought in by the public, strays, and all animals brought in by animal control officers in the contracted municipalities, including animals involved in cruelty cases. The HSPRAC employs an Executive Director and staff, and is governed by a volunteer board of directors. The HSPRAC also relies on hundreds of volunteers throughout the community who assist with programs and fund-raising. Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center programs include educational outreach through school programs, and youth volunteer programs. Community outreach programs including spay and neuter programs, bite prevention education, and pet health care education; community awareness events including Pawsapalooza Benefit Concert, Howloweenie Parade and the Reindeer Run. Patty auction gala, Howloween Costume Bash, and Roadblocks to name a few.

⭐️Alabama Spay Neuter is supplementing the cost of spay neuter surgery on pets from qualified households. These households can spay/neuter up to 3 pets at Alabama Spay Neuter for a copay of just $25 per pet!

Additional services (vaccinations, dewormer, microchipping, etc.) are sold separately.

⭐️Eligibility: A family member of the household must verify current enrollment in one or more government assistance programs (e.g., Medicaid, Disability, WIC, SNAP, EBT, SSI)

⭐️Copay: $25 per pet, due when making the appointment.

⭐️Appointments: First come, first served, so act quickly- this won’t last long!

You may bring your pet directly to our clinic or use our monthly transports to: Alex City, Bibb County, Blount County, Chilton County, Etowah County, Randolph County, Shelby County, Sylacauga, Tuscaloosa & Walker County. UPDATE: WE HAVE A RESCUE( huckaby hope for paws) 🚨PLEASE STOP AND READ THIS IS URGENT!!🚨 This is buzzers last chance to be adopted or rescued. He has until tomorrow at 12 (11/17). This handsome boy is all of our favorites…someone please help. He has been at the shelter for 78 days we treated him for parvo and he survived, he is 4 years old and 49 lbs. He isn’t good with cats but was tested with a calm female dog and did great. He is a gentle and dainty player. He is the sweetest calmest boy you could ever ask for..he is just amazing, he loves toys and is very good on a leash. He has what we believe to be two hernias on his sides (they do not bother him at all) and possibly a hairline fracture on his back right leg (but this has not been confirmed). Please please someone give this baby a miracle..he surely deserves it…
