The Humane Society of Cherokee County is the only rescue and adoption agency for the 3000 animals that enter the Cherokee County Animal Shelter each year.

This site is for posting of urgent shelter animals who have only 5 working days to be reclaimed by owners (less than 10%) or for our Humane Society to find a rescue group or adopter. We welcome sharing of the information about these dogs and pups in need of life-saving actions. We appreciate pledges, as they sometimes make it affordable for a long distance rescue to pay for vetting and transport c

osts. Pledges do not, however, guarantee we can save an animal. We do not have the facilities to allow us to remove animals from the Cherokee County Animal Shelter that have not been confirmed to a rescue group. Please understand that we have financial and space limitations and while we wish we could save all the adoptable animals at the Cherokee County Shelter, resources simply do not allow for that outcome at this time.

Bio: Jasmine loves people. The more the merrier. This sweet girl just wants to be part of the crew. She is playful but she also would love to be someone's couch hippo on hot and lazy days.
Other Dogs: Tests well with other dogs. She didn't really care about our tester. She was more interested in interacting with us. She was laying down when our tester first approached her. She wagged her tail the whole time, sniffed and licked him but never bothered to stand up. She was too busy talking to the evaluation team. Video available.

Children: We do not have kids to test with. We always recommend supervising children around dogs/puppies at all times. Sometimes our dogs/puppies are pretty active and might be too big for really small children and sometimes the children can be too rough around them.

Bio: Sandy is a sweet girl who loves to meet new friends. Both people and animals. Her size makes her perfect for a smaller home or a family that likes to travel with their pet.
Other Dogs: Tests well with other dogs. She is happy tail wags and playful the whole time. Video available.

Health: No obvious issues besides needing some TLC and groceries. This girl arrived thin and with her hip bones poking out. She also appears to have previously had a litter or two, which left her with larger mammary glands.
Bio: Arizona is a big and gentle girl. We love her sweet and forward friendly personality. Despite her neglected appearance she seems to be well socialized. She will greet you at the front of her kennel and silently beg you to come talk to her. This girl enjoys walks and has good manners on a leash too.
