Reba, the Great Dane, stopped by for her appointment with Dr. Rich today. She took a moment to hang out at the front desk, showing off her impressive height next to Client Care Representative, A'laiyah. They were having a dog-gone good time together!

Since the 1980s, Dr. Paula Marrie has had the privilege of working with Gahanna Safety Town. Dr. Paula eagerly anticipates this event each year, as she believes in the importance of instilling responsible pet ownership and nurturing the human-animal bond from a young age.

She teaches the kindergarteners about basic pet care and safety.

She uses her gentle standard poodle, Jeorge, to guide each child on how to greet and interact with unfamiliar animals. Dr. Paula emphasizes the importance of these 3 safety tips:
1. Always ask the owner first for permission to touch the pet
2. Approach with a closed hand (fingers protected) for the pet to sniff
3. Pet the animal under the chin

Dr. Paula adds fun activities into her presentation and encourages the kids to participate. They enjoy learning how to "stand like a tree" and "lay like a log," stances that help keep them safe when encountering a potentially aggressive dog.

Her favorite part of the day is hearing the hilarious and off the cuff stories kids share about their pets at home!

Gahanna Animal Hospital is thrilled to be the pet care provider for Columbus Academy's beloved campus dog, Nelson! He is a 3-year-old Labrador Retriever with the sweetest disposition.

Nelson's veterinarian, Dr. Jason Worman, is a proud alumnus from the Class of '08, having attended CA since pre-kindergarten. He was delighted to learn that CA welcomed a dog to their facility last year, knowing the many great benefits a furry friend brings to the students.

Dr. Jason is dedicated to giving back to the community that shaped him into the person he is today.

Vinny ❤️ ADOPTED

Vinny is a 6 year old kitty with SO much love to give. His dad passed away In February and he is used to being spoiled by him. Vinny loves to give head butts, loves belly rubs and makes lots of biscuits. He can live with another cat or dog as long as they don’t mind other kitties and he seems to do well with children as long as they aren’t trying to pick him up. Vinny is up to date on vaccines, had a dental at the beginning of this month and is ready for his new home. If you think he would be a good fit for your home, email [email protected].

Does your cat need a cat? ADOPTED

Squints is a 4 month old kitten who has come a long way since coming to us. He came to us with a terrible upper respiratory infection and was so scared of us. Since then he loves to take shoulder rides on us and will play with us (especially when he’s in his cat tree). He is looking for a home with a cat friend. "Dash”ing through the snow on his way to his appointment, the 9-week-old poodle mix, was excited to be doted on at the vet.

While attempting to listen to Dash’s heart and lungs, Dr. Becca Nordmoe found herself indulging him with what he thought should be a belly rub instead. He received the real deal and lots of praise shortly thereafter!

Dash’s enthusiasm amplified at the site of a delightful cheese whiz treat. He enjoyed the snack so much that he cleverly (or accidentally) stashed some away in his furry beard for later.

Deb, the 5-year-old Giant Angora rabbit, received a warm welcome when she arrived for a health checkup with Dr. Nancy Rich. Her family sought to take a proactive approach in addressing any potential health concerns as Deb gracefully enters her senior years. Her affectionate personality and extra fluffy coat added a cheerful touch to our day. CCR Emma thoroughly enjoyed the snuggles!

Introducing the adorable Penny, the pint-sized bundle of joy with a heart as big as her fluffy paws. Today marked her inaugural visit to the vet, and it was an absolute cuteness overload. Today was a monumental day in Mello’s tiny world – his very first visit to the vet to meet Dr. Riebel. Weighing in at a whopping 2.4 lbs, this 6-week-old toy poodle may be tiny, but he is mighty. Mello generously shared kisses throughout his exam and nail trim, and didn’t even mind his first vaccine and dewormer. We are all looking forward to Mello’s next appointment!

Maggie and Penny 💜

Our adoption program is searching for a home for Penny and Maggie. Maggie (tabby) is 8 and Penny (calico) is 7 and they are a bonded pair. They need to go to a home with no other cats but a mellow dog may be okay. They have been here since February and have had no interest. These girls are so sweet, fully vetted and need a home to call their forever home. If you think you could be a good fit, please email [email protected].

Happy National Pet Day! Your fur babies deserve extra treats and cuddles! Our treatment room has been full of snuggles today as we welcomed Wanda and her 5 kittens into the GAH Adoption Program! Wanda already has a home lined up when she’s ready, but her 5 boys will need homes in about 6 weeks. Although they are enjoying their first National Pet Day with us, they would much prefer to spend their next one with a forever family! We need your help naming the 3 orange boys and the 2 tabby boys. Leave your name suggestions in the comments below!

Our Story

Husband and wife team, Dr. John Worman and Dr. Paula Marrie, purchased Gahanna Animal Hospital in 1981. The original building had a treatment room/laboratory, hospital ward, small pharmacy, surgical room, and 2 exam rooms. As the hospital began to grow, expansion became a necessity. The hospital underwent a major renovation in 1994 and again in 2005, resulting in our current full-service animal hospital. The facility now has a large treatment area, fully stocked pharmacy, in-house laboratory, hospital ward, isolation room, intensive care unit, surgical suite, grooming facility, doggie daycare area, large boarding facility and 7 exam rooms. The boarding facility is equipped with extra-large runs, indoor/outdoor runs and pet suites with beds and a TV!

Gahanna Animal Hospital now has eight associate veterinarians in addition to the owners. The hospital offers full service wellness care, vaccinations, internal medicine diagnostics, hospitalization, intensive care, radiology, in hospital laboratory, mobile ultrasound, allergy testing, acupuncture, dentals, surgical procedures, long-term case management, behavioral consultations, emergencies, grooming, boarding, puppy classes and doggie daycare.
