From the President of Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter (FJCAS)
A Message of Gratitude and Thanksgiving.
In just over three years, Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter has made remarkable strides in transforming animal welfare in Jackson County, TN. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have built programs that feed, protect, and heal hundreds of animals—and we are only getting started.
Spay & Neuter Program
Launched in October 2024, our low-cost program ($25 for Jackson County residents) provides:
• Spay/neuter surgery
• Full veterinary exam
• Blood and f***l testing
• Rabies and annual vaccinations
• Microchipping
• Treatment of minor medical issues
Impact: More than 450 animals have received care—many for the very first time.
Microchip Readers
We now have two scanners to help reunite lost pets with their families. Already, several pets have made it safely home thanks to this life-saving tool.
Foster Network
Without a shelter facility, fosters remain our lifeline.
• FJCAS provides food, treats, and medical care
• Fosters provide love and safe homes
We are always in need of more fosters—please consider opening your heart and home.
Dog & Cat House Program
We collect and distribute used dog and cat houses to ensure every pet has shelter.
• Over three dozen houses given to local families
• Accepting plastic doghouses, cat houses, and straw year-round
No Animal Goes Hungry
Through your donations and ones received from Chewy, Walmart, Amazon, and the Treat App, we distribute:
• 600–700 lbs of pet food, treats, and litter each month
• 1,100 lbs distributed during the recent government shutdown
Nonprofit Status
FJCAS is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with full tax-exempt status in Tennessee.
• Eligible for grants, raffles, and gaming events
• Recent grants awarded from Walmart/Sam’s Club, the State of Tennessee, and more.
Community Events
This year we hosted and participated in:
• Annual Yard Sale, Bake Sale, and Poker Run
• Children’s Easter Egg Hunt
• Poke Sallet Festival
• Upcoming: Breakfast with Santa – December 6, 8 AM–12PM at Center Grove Community Center. Bring your fur babies for a photo with Santa!
Our Biggest News: We Own Land!
FJCAS now owns 58 acres on Old Route 85.
• Half donated by Mrs. Ann Hart, a true FJCAS angel
• Half purchased—no mortgage, no liens
• Surveyed and ready for future development
Next step: Land clearing.
To our board members, fosters, donors, and volunteers—thank you. Your support makes everything possible.
With gratitude,
Mark Pack
