How do you set your dog up for success before a vet visit?
I put a lot of preparation into our own vet visits, because I want them to be as pleasant for my dogs as possible. And our veterinarians appreciate an easy fun exam as well.

If you think your dog’s vet visits could go better, or be less stressful, or just want to get a head start for your dog to learn cooperative and husbandry skills to make their life less stressful, join me for this 5 week class!

I will be teaching you systematic desensitization to touch, body handling, and stranger approach, with lots of advice on little details that can make a big difference for your dog’s comfort at the vet.

When: starting July 6th, 5 pm-6pm

Prerequisites: your dog has to be ok with other dogs’ presence in the classroom. If your dog is dog reactive, you can contact me for private lessons on how to prep for the vet.

Some news if you didn't already notice: We have a little two legged one joining us in February! I will keep the website updated with options that are available for classes as we get closer to the New Year as there will be less options than normal for a little bit. There are some classes with availability still for Nov/Dec if you want to take a look! And as always, feel free to email any questions or for scheduling private lessons.

A packed puppy lesson for this cutie. Our main focus was preventing potential future behavior issues, as well as puppy basics of potty training, biting, and recalls.

Triangle 🔺️ Recalls: one of my favorite exercises to strengthen the concept of the dog BYPASSING distractions in the environment to come to you when they're called. That silver prize bowl is just a metaphor for anything in the environment the dog wants to interact with--it could be a squirrel, a really good smell, the neighbor, etc. Dogs need to practice making an active choice between detouring to the distractions (aka prizes!), OR coming when called. And we don't want the dog to think coming to us always gets in the way of their fun: responding may grant them access to that fun environment.
Easy levels include being on leash and keeping the prize further from you & the dog. Build up to closer distances & off leash.

Nosework is great for confidence, strengthens the attention span, tires them out more than physical exercise, and more! There are no prerequisites needed for the intro to K9 Nosework class.
