It was an honor to be recognized at the 10th round of the Official NFR Experience this evening 🇺🇸

I owe all credit to my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, my Platoon Sergeant, Squad Leaders and Soldiers of 3rd Platoon, Dagger Company, 2-12 Infantry.

They are dedicated to recognizing the sacrifices that our Nations armed forces make everyday and it was a privilege to be a part of this years events!

Today, we proudly celebrate the National Guard's 338 birthday!

On December 13, 1636, the first militia regiments in North America were formed in Massachusetts by order of the Massachusetts Bay Colony’s General Court. These early regiments – now the 181st Infantry, 182nd Infantry, 101st Field Artillery, and 101st Engineer Battalion – hold the distinction of being the oldest units in the U.S. military. This date marks the beginning of the organized militia, laying the foundation for the state, territory, and D.C. militias that together form today’s National Guard. We honor the National Guard’s enduring legacy:
Always Ready, Always There.

DAY IN HISTORY | Johnny Brazil, Jr.

The lights went dim, the room was still. Then the solemnity of this treasured experience settled in. We saw horses perform. We saw men perform. We saw what makes horse and man as one as we viewed the video honoring Johnny Brazil, Jr. as the 1997 NRCHA Hall of Fame Inductee. There was not a dry eye.

Two full tables of Brazil family members came to enjoy this special occasion. But there was also a room full of 825 people that felt the humble, yet powerful spirit of this man, and we all stood — cheering to honor him. What a great privilege we have in knowing him, in learning from him.

John Brazil, Jr. is a living part of California history. For over sixty years he has dedicated his life to breeding, raising and training some of the finest Quarter Horses in the nation. His story is unique in that he has followed the horsemanship traditions brought to California by the Spanish explorers. Johnny is one of the few people today who preserves the methods perfected by the early vaqueros of California who have been regarded as the most superb horsemen to have ever worked cattle from horseback.

At age seventy-five, John Brazil’s achievements are too numerous to list. A founding member of the California Reined Cow Horse Association (CRCHA) in the 1940’s what is now our beloved National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA), John Brazil still competes at the world class level. His appearance at the 1996 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity finals aboard his magnificent black stallion “Spots Shadow” is unprecedented.

Johnny Brazil is the only person in the United States who, at his age, is competing in the professional division of stock horse events. This includes the National Cutting Horse Association, National Reining Horse Association and the National Reined Cow Horse Association. Indeed no other competitor comes close to his long list of accomplishments in the world of Stock Horse competition.

He is an icon and a true California vaquero bridle horseman. He speaks four languages; Spanish, Portuguese, English, and the Language of the Horse.

DAY IN HISTORY | REMINIC
Reminic 1978 bay stallion by Doc’s Remedy and out of Fillinic, has sired earners of $1,042,003.52 in National Reining Horse Association competition, becoming the eighth stallion to achieve the National Reining Horse Association Million Dollar Sire distinction. Bred by Greg Ward of Tulare, California, and owned by the Reminic Partnership (Chuck McAnally and Jim Babcock), Reminic currently stands at the Babcock Ranch in Gainesville, Texas.

In 1981, Reminic was the National Reining Horse Association Futurity high placing stallion and placing fifth overall. His National Reining Horse Association earnings exceed $81,000. But his most recent accomplishments are through his offspring.

Helping their sire earn this milestone were National Reining Horse Association Open Futurity Champions Boomernic and Von Reminic and National Reining Horse Association Derby Co-Champion Buenonic Chex. Brett Stone rode Claudia Cattell‘s Boomernic to the 1992 Open Futurity win, earning the $100,000 Futurity paycheck. Out of Docs Leavem Smoke by Mr Gun Smoke, the 1989 stallion has total earnings of $109,905.90. In 2000, Todd Sommers rode Frank Bolea’s Von Reminic to the NRHA Open Futurity championship. Von Reminic's NRHA Lifetime Earnings exceed $180,000. Out of Von Freckles by Colonel Freckles, he earned the first NRHA Futurity $150,000 winner’s paycheck. Sommers also rode Enzo Gola’s Buenonic Chex to the 1998 NRHA Derby Co-Champion title. Out of Sample Chex by Bueno Chex, the 1994 stallion has more than $90,000 in NRHA earnings. Other money earning NRHA offspring include Boogernic ($42,240.73), A Genuine Remedy ($40,108.99), Diablonic ($42,564.94), Mister Montana Nic ($53,176.91).

Reminic’s offspring have excelled in other disciplines as well. His offspring have earned in excess of $672,000 in National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) sanctioned events and Reminic offspring account for more than $800,000 in National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) earnings and include two NRCHA Snaffle Bit Champions. In AQHA events his 904 registered foals have earned almost 3500 points.
