🐾 Keep Your Pets Safe This Winter! ❄️
Cold weather can be tough on our furry friends, but with a few simple precautions, you can ensure they stay happy and healthy all season long! 🐶🐱💙

✨ Key tips to remember:

Know your pet’s tolerance for the cold—adjust their time outdoors accordingly.

Keep walks short in freezing temperatures.

Protect those precious paws with booties and pet-safe de-icers.

Clean up any antifreeze spills immediately—it’s toxic to pets!

Recognize the signs of hypothermia and don’t hesitate to seek veterinary care if needed.

Let’s keep our pets cozy, safe, and wagging their tails this winter! Share this with a fellow pet lover who needs these reminders! 🐾💙

🐾🎄 Holiday Pet Tips 🎄🐾
The holidays are magical, but they can also bring unexpected risks for your pets. Here are a few tips to keep your fur-babies safe:

1️⃣ Watch the treats: Keep chocolate, alcohol, and fatty foods out of reach. Those “puppy eyes” are persuasive, but some foods can be toxic!
2️⃣ Decorate safely: Cats love shiny tinsel, but it’s a big choking hazard. Opt for pet-friendly decorations.
3️⃣ Avoid the poinsettias: Festive plants can upset curious tummies. Go for faux instead!

Have a happy, safe, and tail-wagging holiday season from all of us at VRA. 🐶🐱

Did you know hyperthyroidism is one of the most common conditions in middle-aged to older cats?

Here’s what happens:
☑️ Their thyroid glands go into overdrive.
☑️ This makes them lose weight even though they’re eating like there’s no tomorrow.
☑️ They might seem extra hyper or thirsty, but it’s not just quirky behavior – it’s their body telling you something is wrong.

This was Mobius’ reality. It’s why so many families passed him by, thinking he was ‘too much’ or ‘too sick.’ But his new family did their homework. Hyperthyroidism? Totally treatable. 🙌

Next, we’ll show you how Dr. Tina Conway at VRA is using a game-changing scan to pinpoint exactly where Mobius’ thyroid went rogue. This scan makes all the difference in helping cats like him get their lives back. 🩺

Because every cat deserves a chance. 🐾💕

Meet Mobius – The Overlooked Cat with a Big Heart

Imagine walking into a shelter and seeing this sweet face. 🐱 Mobius was charming, playful, and perfect – except for one thing: he had hyperthyroidism.

For a lot of people, that was enough to walk away. 🥺

Mobius’ first owner loved him, but when they realized they couldn’t afford the treatment, they made the heartbreaking choice to give him up – hoping someone else could give him a chance.

The shelter days were rough. So many families stopped, smiled, and then left when they heard he had a health condition. But then, one family came along and saw past the ‘baggage.’

They did their research. They learned his condition was treatable. And they decided that Mobius was worth it. 💛

Today, Mobius has a new best friend (hint: she’s a teenager and they’re inseparable), and he’s getting the care he needs with Dr. Tina Conway, our hyperthyroid specialist here at VRA.

Stay tuned to see how Mobius’ journey unfolds – because every pet deserves a happy ending. 🐾✨

🎁 It's Giving Tuesday! A Day to Do Good 🎉

Today, we join a global movement celebrating the power of generosity and the impact of giving back. Giving Tuesday encourages all of us to make a difference in our communities and causes close to our hearts.

Here at VRA, we’re all about helping animals and giving back to those in need. Here’s how you can join us:

🐾 Support the Montgomery County Humane Society:
Check out their adorable, adoptable dogs waiting for their forever homes. Giving the gift of a loving family is one of the greatest acts of kindness. ❤️

🎁 Donate to Our Toys for Tots Drive:
We’re an official drop-off location! Bring in a new, unwrapped toy and help brighten a child’s holiday. The donation box is in the lobby, and we’re counting on YOU to help fill it up.

Let’s make today a celebration of kindness and generosity—together, we can make a meaningful impact. 🐕🎄

November brought us a season of gratitude—and some truly amazing rehab graduates! 🌟 Join us in celebrating Grant, Moose, Bug, and Tumi, four incredible patients who’ve shown us the true meaning of resilience. 🐾💪

These stars of our Rehabilitation Department tackled their treatment plans like pros, inspiring everyone around them. Whether it was mastering the underwater treadmill, recovering mobility, or finding their inner strength, each one of them reminded us why we do what we do.

Huge thanks to Dr. Julie Corral and Rebecca Tani, our phenomenal CCRT, for their expert care and compassion. Your dedication makes transformations like these possible! 💙

To Grant, Moose, Bug, and Tumi: You’ve earned every bit of this spotlight. Wishing you many happy, healthy days ahead—and plenty of belly rubs to match. 🐶✨

🎉 Foreign Body Friday: The Reveal! 🎉

Drumroll, please... 🥁

The foreign object removed by the skilled hands of Dr. Sindu Manoharan was... 🧤 an oven mitt! That’s right, this curious culprit thought it could digest a little heat-resistant fabric, but Dr. Manoharan wasn’t about to let it get away with it!

Removing an oven mitt (yes, a whole oven mitt) is no small feat, but thanks to the expertise of our team and our state-of-the-art care, our patient is on the road to recovery.

Foreign bodies like this are a reminder to keep a close eye on what our furry friends get into—it’s not just shoes or socks they’re after!

Drop a ❤️ to show some love for Dr. Manoharan and the team for their incredible work, and let us know—what’s the strangest thing your pet has ever swallowed?
