Hi, I'm Taz, a 1-year-old black DSH kitty! I got my name because I used to gobble up my food as fast as the Tasmanian Devil! I’m a little shy at first, but don’t let that fool you—I’m really just a curious guy who needs a bit of time to feel safe. Once I warm up, I’ll be your loyal, affectionate buddy! I love belly rubs and will meet you at the door, ready to roll over in happiness.

I’m also a big fan of playing—I can chase balls for hours and I love batting at wand toys. Perching on top of my cat tree is my favorite spot to keep an eye on things. My meow is soft, almost like a baby bird chirping, and I adore watching birds and squirrels through the window. Oh, and after I eat, you better watch out for my zoomies! They’re pretty epic. I love cuddling on laps and snuggling in bed—can’t wait to meet you!

👏 Now Available For Adoption👏

Frank was rescued around 7-8 weeks of age from an outdoor colony. He has made remarkable progress in becoming the most affectionate kitty who loves to snuggle, but he can be nervous around new people. His wand toy and foam balls are his favorite. He carries them around the house and may even bring one to bed when he sleeps with you. Foam balls make the best "fetch" toy, and that is Frank's favorite game! He has the softest and most sleek medium black hair, and a long, poofy tail. Frank does get along with other cats, but would do just as well in a home without other pets, as long as he has a variety of toys to play with and a person to snuggle with!

Frank has a noticeable limp following an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) surgery in June. He is not in pain, and his mobility is expected to improve over time. He also carries feline herpes virus, which doesn’t cause him any significant side effects but can be contagious to other cats, particularly those that are unvaccinated.

St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Bethesda, MD held a Chompers pet food bank donation drive earlier this month as part of their Blessing of the Animals celebrations. This is the 4th year they have held a donation drive for Chompers, and we are so grateful! Marta Montoro delivered a wonderful collection of canned food, dry food, treats, and toys for dogs and cats. Their congregation was so generous! Many thanks to all at St. Luke's for the donations for our Chompers Pet Food Bank program!

🌟🌟🌟ADOPTED🌟🌟🌟

Bandit here with some purr-sonal news! I have been ADOPTED by two incredible AWLMC volunteers who built up trust with me. At 14 years old, I have spent the last 2.5 years in one room at AWLMC. As a reminder, I spent many years of my life in a hoarder's house with little to no human interaction. Now I'm ready for my retirement home, a safe space where I can nap, play and get pets as much as I like.

My friend Mikey is much younger than me & will likely have a better chance of being adopted by himself. You can see a picture of me snoozing last night – my first night in a safe, peaceful home (not shelter) probably in my whole life! I love it here!

Happy Caturday!!!! Sheba went home with a young couple that both grew up with cats! Oliver also went home today, joining an older cat that recently lost his buddy.

Little miss Misty got adopted last night! Her new adopter was so excited and absolutely loved her rambunctious, playful energy. Misty will have a new brother who also has a lot of energy, we are hoping they are fast play pals. 🧡

Bam Bam is still available for adoption!

My name is Bam Bam, or as my foster mother calls me, "The Bamster." I am a substantial 3 year old handsome brown tabby boy looking for a home – your home as a matter of fact! I get along with other cats and like to be near people. I am also a good supervisor, making sure you keep busy with your computer – unless I decide to take a nap on the keyboard myself.

I have a bit of anxiety that is well controlled by my once a day pill. My foster mommy just puts it down my throat and I don't complain because I know that I will then get my Churu! She sometimes mixes it in my churu which I also don't mind. I am currently living with other cats in foster and while they are great - Your place would be better.

While I get along with cats and some small dogs, I would prefer living in a home without young children.

Bonded pair Amber & Woody are quite delightful! We'll let Amber tell you more –

I'm Amber, the sister of my bonded brother, Woody. We commonly go by the collective name of A&W - but we don’t like root beer! We are 3 years old and lived in the same home for our entire lives. Due to some family issues, we are seeking a new home. Woody is a striped gray DSH tabby and I am a striking multicolored DSH calico. Both of us are very gentle and rather shy.

Each week, Woody and I come up with something cute to show our bondedness and to melt our foster mom’s heart. There are lots of pictures on the website showing some of those moments.

I am more of an observer than Woody. I like to sit in the cat tree and watch what is going on both outside and inside. You can pick me up and cuddle me but only for a very few minutes. So far, I am not a lap cat, but we are working on that. We have very definite ideas as to where we should have our meals. Meals are prepared in the kitchen, then Woody and I parade as a pair down the hall, followed by our cook with the food dishes.

We like scratching posts, especially tall ones with flat tops so we can play Queen of the Post. We also play with wand toys, but I like them better than Woody. Treats are OK but Woody likes them so much he will swipe mine.

We have learned that we can adjust to a new home and make it ours. Are you ready to provide us with that home? You won’t regret it. Come see us, please.

P.S. Warning: we have discovered buttered toast. Protect yours!

Mysterious Berlin…
Found as a stray, Berlin is a 5-year-old beautiful white domestic short hair with sultry gold eyes that mesmerize you! Her grey accents and striped tail make her nothing short of a feline super model! She is the queen of her domain and is most happy having free rein without any other pets to compete with.

Berlin will show you affection as soon as you earn her trust. She will greet you when you come into the room and often jump into your lap when you sit down. When you pick her up, she melts into your arms and purrs softly. She weighs about 9 lbs with very delicate features and is very, very sweet. If she doesn’t like what you’re doing, she will give you a gentle pat without claws. She likes her daily routine and before being fed will greet you by making biscuits in your lap! She will win anyone over with her gentle blinks and sweet demeanor.

Berlin also has a playful side and will chase the red laser dot despite never catching it. Her quirky behavior at times makes her that much more adorable. She is beautiful with such a cute personality that anyone willing to make her a queen will be rewarded with a beautiful, loving, and loyal family member. Oh hey! It's me, Pepper. I can't believe I'm still at the shelter. I know, I have a reputation for sometimes being spicy but the truth is I just get overstimulated. I have a sweet, soft, friendly side of me that comes out best when the shelter's less busy. I think kids call that "swicy" - a mix of spicy and sweet. I'm a very cute, cross-eyed imitation penguin.
