🎉 Case of the Week: Perineal Hernia Surgery! 🐾

This week, we’re highlighting an incredible case involving a pup with a perineal hernia. This condition occurs when there’s a weakness in the pelvic floor, which can allow abdominal contents to slip into places they shouldn’t be—potentially involving the bladder or intestines, making it a serious issue.

Our skilled team performed a specialized surgery using a muscle flap technique to close the hernia and restore everything to its proper place. Thanks to this procedure, our patient is on the road to recovery and back to feeling their best!

Case of the Week: A Cat with Intestinal Rupture

This week, we treated a cat that came to us after several days of not eating. Initial tests, including X-rays, didn’t reveal a clear cause, but the cat had a fever, so we started antibiotics. The cat initially improved but then took a turn for the worse—a red flag for a potential intestinal issue.

An exploratory surgery confirmed our suspicion: the intestine had ruptured, releasing its contents into the abdominal cavity. This is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate action. During surgery, we carefully flushed the abdominal cavity, removed the damaged portion of the intestine, and reconnected the healthy sections.

We sent tissue samples to the lab to determine if cancer was the underlying cause of the rupture. For now, the cat is stable and recovering well, but we’re monitoring closely while awaiting test results.

This case highlights how critical prompt intervention is in cases of suspected intestinal rupture. We’re hopeful for a positive outcome, but we’re preparing for all possibilities.
