Tuesday morning update:
HSAH is open today. We are running on generator power solely. Thanks to Clark Gas and Oil for topping us off so that it could continue to run and to T Webb for checking it on Saturday to make sure it would stay running.
The phones are working, but we can't call across state lines.
The internet is still down so we can't process on line orders or take credit cards.
All in all, we are functioning and truly thankful for all first responders, public works folks, utility folks and others that are working so hard to get us all back to normal.
All dogs in our care are safe and comfortable. We are hauling drinking warmer for our patients since Galax is on a boil water notice.

09/30/2024

Good Monday morning. The clinic is still without power, water, phone service and internet. Please don't try to call us on a landline. You can try a cell phone at 276.233. 3241, but keep in mind cell service has been spotty.
We are open today. We will see appointments and do surgery.
Cash or check only!!!! NO credit cards.
We can NOT process on line/internet pharmacies prescriptions, answer emails or answer any petdesk request. Please refrain from relying on technology at this time. If you need meds refilled come to the clinic and we will fill those meds in house.

Again all board animals are well cared for and safe.

Thank you

Sunday: The clinic will be open from 1pm to 4 pm today. We are currently working with a generator. We only have electricity in the front half of the building. We do not have water. We are carrying water to the clinic. The phones do not work so you will have to show up if you have any requests or need assistance. Do not try to call for appointments or questions. Credit cards do not work. Please be prepared with cash or a check.
Please be patient. We are problem solving as fast as we can. We have decided to remain open to help.
All patients boarding at the clinic have access to fresh water, are being fed and walked regularly. Our patients and boarding clients are safe and comfortable.

09/27/2024

We are closing early. The animals in our care will continue to be cared for like normal. We will be open tomorrow from 9am to 1pm. Everyone stay safe today.

09/27/2024

If you have dogs and cats boarding with us, please know that they are safe, warm and dry. The generator is running. We are staffed and everyone is being cared for.

FDA Advisory: Do Not Feed Certain Lots of Darwin’s Natural Selections Pet Food Due to Salmonella & Listeria monocytogenes

Fast Facts:
• The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is cautioning pet owners that FDA samples of five Darwin’s Natural Pet Products raw cat and dog food made by Arrow Reliance, Inc. tested positive for Salmonella and a sixth FDA sample tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes (L. mono).
• Affected products are sold in frozen 2-pound packages and consist of certain lots of Darwin’s Natural Selections Antibiotic & Grain-Free Chicken Recipe for Cats and Darwin’s Natural Selections Antibiotic & Grain-Free Chicken Recipe for Dogs. These product lots should not be fed to pets.
• Darwin’s Natural Selections pet foods are generally sold online through a subscription service.
• The FDA recommended that Arrow Reliance, Inc. recall all six lots of product. To date, the firm has not recalled the affected products and could continue to distribute them. Therefore, FDA advises consumers to keep checking Darwin’s Natural Selection Antibiotic & Grain-Free products for the affected lot numbers prior to feeding your pets.
• If consumers have any pet food on the list below, they are advised to throw it away in a secure container. Do not feed it to your pets. Do not donate the food.
• Clean and disinfect all pet supplies and surfaces that the food or pet had contact with.
• Salmonella and L. mono can affect both people and animals. People with symptoms of Salmonella or L. mono infection should consult their health care providers. Consult a veterinarian if your pet has symptoms of Salmonella or L. mono infection. See symptom information below.
