Here are ten lesser-known facts about BMW:

1. **BMW’s Airplane Engine Legacy**: BMW originally began as an aircraft engine manufacturer in 1916. The company's logo, often thought to represent a spinning propeller, actually reflects BMW's origins in aviation. The blue and white in the logo are the colors of Bavaria, where the company was founded.

2. **The Isetta “Bubble Car”**: In the 1950s, BMW faced financial struggles and produced a microcar called the Isetta. This quirky vehicle, which had a front-opening door and was powered by a motorcycle engine, helped save BMW from bankruptcy.

3. **First Electric Car in 1972**: BMW created its first electric car, the BMW 1602 Elektro-Antrieb, for the 1972 Munich Olympics. It was an experimental vehicle powered by 12 lead-acid batteries, but it never entered mass production.

4. **BMW Owns Rolls-Royce**: Since 1998, BMW has owned Rolls-Royce, the iconic British luxury car manufacturer. The company acquired the rights to the name and logo, while Volkswagen initially owned Rolls-Royce’s physical plant and production rights.

5. **The M1 Procar Series**: BMW created its first supercar, the BMW M1, in 1978. To promote it, they launched the M1 Procar Championship, a racing series that featured Formula One drivers racing in identical M1 cars, adding to its legacy in motorsports.

6. **BMW’s First Motorcycle**: Before building cars, BMW was known for its motorcycles. The first BMW motorcycle, the R32, was produced in 1923. It had an innovative flat-twin "boxer" engine layout, which remains a key design feature of BMW motorcycles today.

7. **Hydrogen-Powered Car**: In 2007, BMW launched the Hydrogen 7, a hydrogen-powered version of the 7 Series luxury sedan. It was a limited-production vehicle and part of BMW's efforts to explore alternative fuels.

8. **BMW Z3 James Bond Car**: The BMW Z3 became famous after appearing in the 1995 James Bond film *GoldenEye*. This was the first time a non-British car was featured as James Bond’s vehicle of choice, which boosted Z3 sales globally.

9. **V12-Powered McLaren F1**: The legendary McLaren F1 supercar, introduced in 1992, was powered by a BMW-designed V12 engine. This engine helped the F1 become one of the fastest and most iconic cars of all time.

10. **Recyclable Materials**: BMW is a leader in sustainability and was one of the first car manufacturers to focus on using recyclable materials. The BMW i3 electric car, launched in 2013, was made with 95% recyclable components and featured a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic body to reduce weight.

About Heather, her education & experience.

About Me

My love of animals was evident at an early age. My devotion and concern for the safety and well-being of dogs was solidified, at age 7, when I helped bottle feed my 1stpuppy, who had been orphaned. I have always been drawn to puppies and dogs in need of care and understanding, and learned a great deal about fear and reactivity in dogs when I rescued a one from a pittie rescue who was repeatedly overlooked due to her issues. Experiencing, first hand, her growth through consistent, positive training and activities, propelled my interest in pursuing a career in professional dog training and other services.

My focus is on basic obedience and socialization to help you and your dog learn to communicate with each other and build a trusting, positive bond that will last a lifetime. I also offer training for owners of fearful and/or reactive dogs, as well as those exhibiting mild aggression issues.
