Now that the puppies are gone the gals that helped me came for a Christmas cookie making day and lunch. It was fun. I can’t thank my helpers enough for helping me through the past few months. They shared laughter tears and support with me and I’m
Forever grateful for each one. It was strange being together with no puppies but we settled in and enjoyed today.

As I received tree ornaments from
Chris Evans from Frazier and Remy I decided to start a puppy tree. It inspired me to get ornaments for our dogs and so here it is. Won’t be long I’ll need a bigger tree. Lol. Added Brees favorite stuffed puppy with a heart beat she spent so many hour snuggles up with him.

Something to think about

This is the second dog in the last two weeks that we’ve had come in to our hospital with this type of bone stuck around it’s mandible. Separate companies but the EXACT same design.

Please do NOT buy this type of bone for your pup! It’s not worth the risk. Luckily for this patient, our technician was able to wiggle it free but our previous patient was under general anesthesia for nearly a half hour while we went through every tool in our arsenal to saw through both sides of the bone safely.
Both dogs are lucky that they did not end up with lacerations or broken teeth.

Abby/Kona pups have made it to their homes. Since this will be Abby’s last litter two are joining their brothers and getting to know each other. Sad to end this breeding since we will never be able to match this breeding. Abby just turned 6 and has blesssd
So many families with her loving little ones. She will be hunting more which is her second passion her first is being such a good mama. Mama Abby says hello to all her kiddos out there.

This morning seems like the words are flowing in my mind and seems to be the right time to share.
I know many have followed our story of our little Bree. She was one special little girl to everyone she met and those who helped care for her.

Bree Armstrong. 9/24/23-10-31-23
5 weeks and 2 days old.
She passed away while I was holding her on Tues evening around 11:30 pm. She had had a rough couple of days her digestive system was just never developed right she nursed like a little piggy all the time but the processing of food was difficult.
Bree was a lover. She loved to cuddle with anyone who came to cuddle was most welcomed. As she grew little at a time we all
Cheered her on with each accomplishment she made. Each .1 of a lb. Her eyes opening which were perfect. Her walking her playing with her brothers. She liked it best when they were sleeping and she would pick at them and know she was safe to do so. She loved Mr Moose he had so many little places to tuck in for a nap.
I often think why was she given to us for just 5 weeks then gone. Had a friend tell me maybe u all needed her more than she needed u maybe that is right. Little Bree was starting to love Daddy. She would hear his voice no matter if she was sleeping and even at the end she perked up and wanted to lick his face. We loved her unconditionally even though we knew she was not perfect. But we all pressed forward thinking she would keep gaining and turn the corner. Last couple days she just would look at me as to say it’s ok mama I’m going to a better place her little eyes didn’t close she just Wanted to take us all in. My heart is broken as we buried her by the white picket fence in a beautiful wooden chest I’ve had for years and never used. It was perfect for Bree. When I close my bedroom window shade at night with a little light shinning on her grave I say goodnight little Bber.
As I reflect on what I’ve learned.
Love those that are not perfect unconditionally. Cherish those around u and love those fur babies to pieces.
Abby knows as she nursed her a lot through the day. She never rejected her she cleaned her no matter the mess or smell. After Bree passed she came to my lap out of a sleep and started to clean her. Sometimes they are almost human. She visits her grave every time I let her out. She has been very sad. They hurt like us I believe.
So for those who followed Brees story thank u all for your support. She will forever be with us heart and mind and soul. Some say dogs don’t go to heaven I believe they do and someone there needed Bree more than me and for that I’m just grateful we had the time we did before she left for a better place. From all

Rosie/Thunder pups are now 5 weeks old. They enjoyed the day outside as well. Potty training is going well. Eating food and drinking well. Loving play time and when the helpers come
It’s like Christmas morning. A lot to do in three weeks so every day is something new. Start whistle training tomorrow. I find this really helps with recall for the new families. They are always darker red in person than pictures people always comment on that.

Hard to believe we are at 5 weeks old. They are learning new things every day. We took advantage of a warm day last week to be outside and take some pictures. The slide is always a hit.

3 weeks 3 days and potty training going so well. First food today they nailed it.

Good evening everyone. Well here is the story I’ve been waiting to share
When Abby had her pups the second one born was a little girl. She had her cord and placenta wrapped around her so tight like a band. I’ve never seen this before it took shears to cut it away. I believed this cut her food.Oxygen and blood supply I spent what seemed like a long time getting her to take a breath. Then Chuck said her chest is going up and down. She wanted to suck she was so tiny. 0.5 lbs but had the will to suck and strong spirit. Couple days into it she started to decline. She had taken in some of the bad fluids I believe. Dropping in weight and not wanting to suck. We fed often with a syringe of milk we milked out of Abby. Moms milk was the best defense. A lot of tears and holding at times a very weak little girl made her her own warm bed with a puppy stuffy with a heart beat she loved it. Warmth was the key at this point. Not knowing if she would make it she needed a name. Her name is Bree meaning strong and a fighter. She held at 0.4 for days. Then 0.5 today at 3 weeks 3 days she is 1.5lbs.
Some came to just hold her as I feel touch is a huge part. Not knowing how her development was we were not sure when her eyes would open. last weekend eyes open and can see and hear now. She is smart knows things so no worries there. Pees. Poops. Eats like there is not another meal. She loves now hanging with her brothers which are 6-7 lbs. she can nurse with them and hold her own.
What a ride emotionally and physically but we never gave up. Every little life deserves the best we
Can give them. I wrote her a little letter one night as I was sure she wouldn’t see morning but she was so strong with all she endured
In a few weeks we will decide if she is able to have a new family and when that might be. I know she will be with us longer than the others as she will probably have her vet check later but we will see. She has gained a lot in the past 5 days. So meet Bree our strong fighter that loves to be held and loved on. Thanks for the help we have had. Lisa Joanne Thearsa Caroline Chuck for being our support team. Many have prayed for the best for her and now we share little Bree with all of you. One precious little girl. Oh and in most pictures her brother Red collar seemed to know she needed him as a pillow or warmth. It’s funny how he knew. Her collar was purple but we soon took that off and gave her a name.
