Be warned to with outside temperatures it is not safe to walk your pets on Asphalt, concrete, sand, and some decking during the day. If it feels hot to your touch, then it is too hot for their feet. Try to get any outside walks in before 10:00 AM to prevent pad burns on your pets feet.

With the scorching temps this week everyone be on the lookout for signs of heat stroke in your pets. Limit outside play time to mornings and late evenings. Make sure your pets have plenty of cold, fresh water. Pets with heart conditions, certain breeds such as bulldogs or long-haired breeds, and pets with tracheal collapse are especially prone to heat stroke which can be fatal.

The 2025 cicada hatch is in full swing. They do not sting and are nontoxic. However, some pets truly gorge themselves on the dying cicadas all around their yard. Please try to keep your pet from eating them if possible. Every year we treat a few GI upset cases from dogs that just can't stop eating these noisy bugs.

Just a reminder that we will be closed on 5/26 for Memorial Day. If your pet is on prescription meds or prescription food now is the time to check and make sure that you have what you need to make it through the long weekend.

We are also quickly approaching firework season. If your pet requires medications to get through the 4th of July weekend, now is the time to start making those late June appointments. If we have not seen your pet for anxiety or within the last year, we cannot legally dispense controlled drugs for your pet. Please plan ahead so that we can get your pet what it needs.
