January 4, 2025 and SSNA has already completed 143 spay/neuter surgeries this year! High quality, high volume, low cost spay/neuter services are in great demand. Your Sumner County non-profit clinic is working very hard to meet the demand and provide a valuable service to our community.

One of the best things that happened to SSNA in 2024 was our collaboration with the BISSELL Pet Foundation. They have provided skilled HQHV surgeons at a time when finding veterinarians to do this work is difficult. Thousands of dogs and cats have been spayed/neutered thanks to the Fix the Future program ♥️

Thank you to Cathy Bissell and BISSELL Pet Foundation for helping us Fix the Future™! They are breaking the barriers to affordable and accessible spay/neuter by deploying veterinarians to shelters and communities with the most need.

It is with such sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and passionate animal advocate, Lynn Corlew, on this Christmas Eve morning. Her love and desire to improve the lives of animals left an indelible mark on our community. Through her tireless efforts, she made a profound difference in the lives of countless furry friends.

In celebration of her life and legacy, she requested that donations be made to the Sumner Spay Neuter Alliance (SSNA) in lieu of flowers. This caring wish reflects her forever commitment to animal welfare and ensures that her impact will continue to be felt for years to come.

Let’s honor her memory by continuing her mission to make the world a better place for all animals.

Today is the last Spay & Neuter Angel Day of 2024!!! With the amazing sponsorship from the we have provided spay neuter services, vaccinations and microchips to 244 dogs this year!!! Talk about an IMPACT!

Applying resources with the most impact has an exponential effect on
lowering negative outcomes for shelter dogs. As a movement, targeted spaying neutering of pit bull type dogs must be a priority nationwide. Pitties are the #1 most commonly surrendered dog and most euthanized. Together with the Standup For Pits Foundation, we are doing what we can to change this.

Everyone must look at the dogs in their local animal shelters - THOSE are the dogs at highest risk. All across the country medium to large mixed breed dogs (which includes pit bull types) end up surrendered and euthanasized.

Today is Giving Tuesday, we hope you will consider helping us continue our mission of reducing animal shelter intake and euthanasia by making spay neuter available to residents in our community.

This year, we have performed 7,700 surgeries. To have the most impact, our focus is on the breeds (medium to large mixed breed dogs and cats) at highest risk of ending up in an animal shelter.

To have the most impact on shelter intake and euthanasia of shelter animals, everyone in spay/neuter must target specific animals that look like the animals in shelters. Sadly, pit bull type dogs are the most vulnerable breed to end up in shelters and have significantly less favorable outcomes than other breeds. So, it is extremely important to us to focus on Pit Bull Type Dogs.

We celebrated Global Cat Day last Wednesday in partnership with Alley Cat Allies and 116 cats from 12 Middle Tennessee Counties. Alley Cat Allies covered the cost for all services. A big thanks to everyone involved for recognizing the important role of spay neuter in our community.
