We are pretty lucky to have all kinds of people volunteer and spend time with our horses, but we are a SPECIAL kind of lucky every time Dr. Barbara Parks comes to visit 🦄
Dr. Parks (The Horse PT) is a physical therapist for both horse and rider and focuses on biomechanics and healthy movement.
This week she did an assessment on sweet Remi, our new intake with severe kissing spine.
We are going to give Remi some exercises to keep her healthy and active and keep her moving in the healthiest way possible to prolong the greatest and most pain free quality of life. We are so grateful to have Dr. Parks be part of our team and trust nobody more!

To donate to Remi’s care please visit www.veatn.org

Can we have a little commotion for our sanctuary horses 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Shaggy (SSH) and Red (OTTB) are lifers at VEA, but with *very* specific requirements they can be fostered! But they MUST be fostered together!
Neither Red nor Shaggy can have any hay. They would do best on an all grass pasture. They get fed meals of timothy pellet & senior grain soup multiple times a day.
You can apply to foster them or adopt any of our other 30+ equine & find more information on our website at www.veatn.org

✨ Meet the Farm✨
Are you looking for your next trail partner? Look no further! Dune is a gorgeous gelding with a sweet personality and a solid temperament. He had 2 weeks put on him in October as a tune up and has been worked consistently since then.
He’s smart (sometimes too smart) and will do best with consistency.
He’s great with the vet and farrier. He would do best with an intermediate level rider or above.
You can apply to adopt him or any of our other 30+ equine & find more information on our website at www.veatn.org

✨ Meet the Farm✨
Have you always wanted your own Barbie Dream Pony? Well, here she is!
Mabel will only be considered to intermediate or above horsemanship level homes. She needs someone that can teach her confidence on the ground and softness under saddle.
She is sound, good for the vet, good for the farrier and has done a few ground driving lessons which she was learning quickly.
She has been ridden before and has no issues with the saddle, but we’d prefer a softer give to pressure before continuing her under saddle.
You can apply to adopt her or any of our other 30+ equine on our website at www.veatn.org

✨ Meet the Farm✨
Jasper (left) and Smoky (right) came in together when their owner became terminally ill and was looking for a soft spot for them to land.
They are 9 and 6 year old registered mini donkeys and are beyond sweet. The owner originally planned to teach them to drive but fell ill before that could happen. They would still be a good match for that set up.
We are asking that they be adopted out together as they are so bonded.

Garcia hit the foster JACKPOT 🎰 with Caroline 💕 We are very much over capacity right now so good fosters are crucial! While we prioritize adoptions, we have a few horses that are available to foster only. So, if that’s something you’re looking for, let us know! 🐴

Meet Remi, a beautiful 16hh Thoroughbred mare who’s about 12 years old. Her journey has been a tough one. Originally seized by law enforcement in 2020, she was placed in Hickory Hill’s custody and later adopted. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, she hasn’t received much care beyond the basics in recent years.

After being transferred around and returning to Hickory Hill before they ceased operations, we knew we had to step in and give her the stability she deserves.

Remi’s X-rays have revealed she has kissing spine, a condition that can cause discomfort. But we’re already on it! We’ve scheduled her an appointment with an equine physical therapist who specializes in treating horses with this condition.

We’re committed to giving Remi the care, love, and healing she needs. Stay tuned for updates as she begins her journey with us! 💕

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to outgoing board members Glennette Wimmer and Jennifer Pirtle for your many years of service to VEA! You have helped make a difference in the lives of the many equine passing through our gates.
2025 VEA Officers and Board Members are:
Bill Hudgins - President
Matt Bown - Vice President
Brenda Kole - Treasurer
Laura Buck - Secretary
Amie Snyder
Brenda Lees
Sean Ferrell

2024 was a big year for VEA with several law enforcement cases and 25 new intakes.
There has been 1 new intake already this year. We are still expecting to add a foal in the coming weeks.
Our Event Calendar, both onsite and offsite, is incredibly full! Watch our socials for event listings!
Our newly designed website is up and running. www.veatn.org and we will be on Pet Finders soon.
VEA has recently partnered with www.reeltimeanimalrescue.com , another site to follow our day-to-day activities and soon we will be live streaming! Keep up with the comings and goings, daily care and our onsite events!
One last comment.... our volunteers are like family, they all love the horses and the mission of our organization. They are the heart and soul that keeps our ability to move forward every day going. Rescue, the mission, is not easy. Some days bring such joy but other days are heartbreaking. Our volunteers take it all in stride.
If you are interested in joining us, the application is on our website. We look forward to helping save more equine lives!

Thank You to Kelli from Rocking Horse for your generous donation of blankets and supplies for our horses. Your kindness goes a long way.

And a big shoutout to our amazing volunteers who worked hard blanketing the horses and preparing them for the cold weather. Your dedication never goes unnoticed!

Despite vets and volunteers going above and beyond for nearly 12 hours today, Holly was not able to survive the neglect her owner placed on her.
We will be taking her for an autopsy in the morning to further our court case in the fight for some sort of justice. 💔

Holly needs all your prayers, good vibes, mojo or whatever you believe in right now! She just isn’t strong enough, even with lots of help, to get up!
