January is National Train Your Dog Month. Training a dog is as much about training the owner as it is the dog. Dr. Logan took her own dog to Gigi Behavior Services for Dogs and had a great experience.

The American Veterinary Medical Association just released this information. We always recommend to stay away from raw diets. If you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out to our team.

A new source of exposure highly pathogenic avian influenza is affecting cats: raw diets containing poultry such as duck, turkey, or chicken that were contaminated with the virus. Cats appear to be particularly susceptible to severe illness from H5N1, often resulting in death.

Great tip! While it's true that some people suggest using aspirin, sugar, corn syrup, or bleach in the water to keep Christmas trees fresh longer, these additives can be harmful to pets if they drink from the tree stand. Pets, especially cats and dogs, might be attracted to the water, and ingesting even small amounts of these substances could lead to serious health issues.

To keep both your tree and pets safe, it's best to stick with plain water and ensure the tree stand is covered or placed in an area where pets can’t access it. Additionally, trimming the tree’s base and refreshing the water regularly will help the tree stay fresh longer without the need for additives. Always better safe than sorry!

If anyone's pet does ingest something harmful from the tree water or any other holiday-related substances, calling our office immediately at 614-870-7008 is a smart move. Hopefully, everyone’s pets stay safe and healthy this holiday season!
