When your dog goes to the pound/shelter or dumped on the side of the road because you’re tired of him, don't have time for him, he bothers you, prevents you from moving into that certain house, from going on vacation, or whatever excuse you've chosen...
He waits.
He waits for you to come get him. A second, a minute, an hour, a day, a month - he waits for you (if pound personnel don't decide to kill him because they need his space).
He doesn’t know why you abandoned him, but he waits because he misses you, he trusts you, because unlike what you've shown him, he loves YOU.
Ownership of an animal of any kind is not a temporary involvement, a toy, or entertainment. He is a thinking, feeling being. It is a relationship, and those take time, dedication, and work.
Think twice before getting a pet. Because when you do, you take on the many years-long responsibility of caring for a living being, a nondisposable family member that deserves better than being thrown away like common trash.
